Permanent Flame–9/11/7

I began blogging on March 11th, 2007. On my 6 month anniversary, I decided to replay “Permanent Flame.” A final verse was added today.

As You read this, know that at 8:46am on 9/11/7, I will be on a plane to New York. This flight was arranged deliberately. I wear the red, white and blue of America on my t-shirt, and these colors don’t run.

Permanent Flame–In memory of the United 93 Heroes

March 31st, 2007 at 4:13 pm (POLITICS, MUSIC) · Edit

7/30/6 PERMANENT FLAME

Chorus: NEVER FORGOTTEN…PERMANENT FLAME

NO LONGER HERE, BUT YOU’LL ALWAYS REMAIN

3000 GONE…BUT NEVER IN VAIN

HONOR THEIR MEMORY…TAKE BACK THE PLANE

1a) September 11th, 2001

Started so normal, ended so wrong

American airplanes, turned into guns

Fired on our towers, that stood proud and strong

1b) Black clouds from New York…to the Pentagon

60 years after 1941

American steel…will never yield

Look at the hole, in the Pennsylvania field

1c) Beamer and company, saw America attacked

Our Capitol saved, because they fought back

Ordinary people…scared but so bold

Rose to the challenge…told the world “let’s roll”

Chorus

2a) Some blamed the US, but nothing we did

Justified the murder, of innocent kids

Since then we’ve had Bali, London and Madrid

We try to save the world, across the global grid

2b) 2002…Afghanistan

Liberated a nation, routed the Taliban

2003…war in Iraq

Saddam in jail…democracy on track

2c) September 11th, 2004

36 months, since the start of the war

Less people airborne, scared to the core

What can we do…we must do more

Chorus

3a) An ordinary man…I see in the mirror

But now I understand…the picture is clearer

Only total victory…in the war on terror

Will make America…for all our children better

3b) Our soldiers fight…because the cause is right

So our children are safe…when tucked in at night

Donate your dollars to police…and those who firefight

Money left over…go book that flight

Chorus

4a) September 11th, 2006

Chargers vs Raiders…I got my tix

From LAX…TO OAK

Don’t worry mom and dad, I’ll be ok

4b) I need to do this, it helps heal the pain

I’ll get home safely, so don’t be afraid

I’m only one link in an American chain

If others join me, we can take back the plane

4c) So call up United, Delta and Southwest

Show all the world our American best

Take back our freedom…take back the sky

For our fallen heroes…American Eagles let’s fly

Chorus (2x)

May God Bless the USA…again…Let’s roll.

September 11th…2007

En route to New York…I point to the Heavens

The war we will win…and evil we’ll sever

September 11th, 2000-Forever

America Forever!

Awesome post, Eric, and you’re right: These colors don’t run!

Even though I’ve taken some time off from posting because of pressing personal chores that must be accomplished, I’m trying to make the rounds to visit my friend’s 9/11 posts. They are all patriots, and for those Americans who have forgotten 9/11 or who believe stupid conspiracy theories all I have to say about them is that they shame themselves in their ignorance.

    God bless you!

  2. I wrote about 9/11 last year. I reposted it on my blog today. I’d put it here, but you don’t like profanity on your blog, so I’ll respect that. Let’s just say that I’m really sick of all this 9/11 hysteria. Say hi to NYC for me. I miss it.

I watched those towers go down that day. I remember riding home with a friend down the turnpike later that afternoon. I remember looking to the left and see the smoke rising up from downtown. I turned to my friend and said, “You know what’s going to happen now, right? All the flag wavers and “patriots” are going to go nuts. All the folks from Jesusland, who despise everything New York, will shed their crocodile tears and demand retaliation against anything remotely Islamic or “unAmerican.” Their will be a new Cold War to feed the MIC beast, and the Police State will now grow into a Military State like Stalinist Russia. “Heroes” who do nothing more than stand on their bully pulpits riling the rabble will be cynically born out of our tragedy. Get ready for war.” I paraprase, course. That was a long time ago now. I haven’t been surprised by a single event since.

Of course the terrorists haven’t attacked us since 9/11. They accomplished everything they wanted on that day. They knew exactly what I knew. They saw the writing on the Rightwing wall. They wanted a common enemy to unite the Muslim world against a common enemy, the United States, and they saw with the election of Bush II and the GOP congress that the time was ripe. They suckered us right into it and now we’re stuck. We could have seen all this coming, but we were on a downside in our history. Fat, gluttonous, stupid, apathetic. They knew that we would let our pride and hubris get the best of us. And sure enough, we believed that somehow we were attacked because we are so much better than them, or that they hate our freedom, or that they are jealous of our wealth. We could only think of ourselves, and never considered that these terrorists had their own agenda and we were just patsies in their plan.

The world didn’t change on 9/11, just the way we look at it – blindly.

Eric ! I hope you achieve evevrything you set out to do on your journey.
It’s a pleasure to be associated with someone who loves his country so much.
I pray you get the healing that this journey was intended to bring.

  4. Jersey McJones says:

Healing? Hey, I hope he’s okay!

    Jersey,

Just read your post. Thanks for the best laugh of the day. Next time you fork some chow into your yap, chances are, it came from Jesusland.

As far as being attacked on 9/11 and that’s it, you may want to educate yourself in the terrorist mindset.

I suggest you start with “Milestones” by Qutb, then “Join the Caravan”, and then the Quran. (ALL available online for FREE so no excuses) Since I’ve read and UNDERSTAND all THREE, I’ll be waiting for you for discussion. Until then, you’re just another uninformed wannabe armchair general and Bush-basher.

  6. Well done, well done indeed! Carry on!

  8. Jersey McJones says:

Gunny, you said, “Next time you fork some chow into your yap, chances are, it came from Jesusland.” Well, I usually refer to the Bible Belt as “Jesusland.” Not so much the Bread Belt (or “Basket”) which includes the plains states and upper Midwest. But that’s just silly nit picking so I’ll leave it alone. Now, Gunny, I sincerely, truly, honestly wish that was true. Did you know that over 80% of our seafood, of which less than 2% is inspected, is imported? Imports, including food products are expected to rise dramatically thanks to NAFTA, CAFTA, et al. As it stands now, about 11% of everything we eat is imported, and, depending on your diet, that nymber can be much higher. The death of the family farm means that most of the food we eat travels long distances, a wasteful process. Jesusland makes a lot of pork and poultry, but the way things are going, all those great American small-farm-fresh fruits and veggies are fast becoming a thing of the past. It’s a shame. Thanks the cheap-labor crowd on both sides of the aisle for that – but especially the idiots in Jesusland and the Breadbelt who vote against their own interests in favor of being baited by non-issues like “God, gays, and guns.”

“As far as being attacked on 9/11 and that’s it, you may want to educate yourself in the terrorist mindset.”

Really? I think I’m as up-to-date as any American.

“I suggest you start with “Milestones” by Qutb, then “Join the Caravan”, and then the Quran.”

I read Milestones and studied the Koran (Qur’an, whatever). I’ll take a look at “Join the Caravan.” Switch “Quran” with “Bible” and “Sharia” with “Leviticus” and you could find plenty of similar texts standard in the Christian or Jewish library. Islam, like the other religions of “The Book,” is highly sectarian, from the peaceful Suffis, who see Jihad (Jihaad, whatever) as purely a personal journey, to the lunatic Taliban. Their practices vary from country to country, race to race, tribe to tribe, region to region. They are not a homogeneous people. Religion is rarely the root cause of any great, global movement, though is often a handy tool in the hands of the movers. Other factors must be considered. If we only judged people by their books of theology and faith, we would have a wrongheaded, convulted understanding of them. If you as a Christian, for example, truly followed all of the tenets of the Bible, you’d be considered a murderous psychopath. So, let’s get beyond these texts, put them in context just the same, and see the whole picture and not just specific rhetorical dogamatisms.

And remember, as an atheist, I’m no fan of ANY religion. I believe they are all dangerously irrational.

  9. GunnyG says:

    Jersey,

Actually, Christians, and I’m a lapsed Catholic myself, follow the NEW testament, not the old one. Christians have not tortured a Muslim in a few hundred years whereas Muslims have been killing, maiming, and destroying forever.

They also destroy HISTORICAL items which I find appaling. The library at Alexandria burned to the ground by Sala-din. TWO 10,000 y.o Buddhas destroyed in Afghanistan by Taliban scum.

Lastly, if you read “Milestones,” then you know that it is the Arabic version of Mein Kampf. They give us infidels only THREE WAYS to go here.

    1. Convert
    2. Accept Dhimmitude
    3. Die

The Quran is very clear on those points and Christians and Jews in Arab lands STILL PAY the jizra or Dhimmi tax AND suffer humillation.

You may be down with that but I was taught NOT to live life on bended knee. As far as the Arabs go, if they ever attacked Israel in force, I’d drop what I was doing to fight for the Jews.

Only two ways to choose here, makes it simple for liberals (dhimmicrats). Well, makes it easy for REAL Americans as well…FIGHT.

I’m trying to post but it’s not taking…

  11. Jersey McJones says:

Gunny, You need to brush up on your history. Why do you think the Balkan people converted? How do you think sephardic jews came to Europe? There was a time when Islam was like we are today, and we were like they are today. That’s just the ol’ cycle of history in action. I have a saying: If there were jet planes around 1000 years ago, Christian fanatics would have been flying them into the minarets of Mecca. How do you think the great works of the Greeks survived to today? Algebra ring a bell? You have to open your mind and see the big picture.

Christians follow BOTH the New and Old Testaments. They simply cull out things from the Old that don’t fit with His messages (like turning the other cheek, the gentile as savable, etc). Just the same, Jesus was a JEW. He never rejected Judaism out of hand. Christians simply select more of the New to follow than the Old. It’s a matter of pragmatism and convenient selectivity.

As for the Israelis, I would help them – I help man the boats to get them out of there for once and for all and relocate them here in America. Remember, after WWII, it was CHRISTIAN anti-semites who rejected the Jewish refugees of WWII and forced them into the hands of the Zionists. There would be no Israel today were it nor for CHRISTIAN anti-semitism. And the only reason the Christians care at all about them today is that they are gullible enough to believe that somehow Revelation will come to pass with a united Judea and Samaria. Then all the Jews can go to hell for all the Christians care.

  12. micky2 says:

So much for evolution, huh gunny ?

Just goes to prove that as much as one person knows about the past, he hasnt learned a thing from it.
I use to like coming here but more and more often I feel like I have to scrape something off the bottom of my shoes when I leave.

  13. Jersey McJones says:

Micky, can’t you play nice? What haven’t I learned from the past? What about evolution? What?

Gunny and I have some pretty good debates. You’ve been quite stirring yourself. Eric’s site is fantastic. There are very few conservative blogs out there that are open to honest debate. Can we please stop the insults and get on with the discussion? Is all you want constant reaffirmation of what you already believe? Don’t you want to open your mind and learn about what other people are thinking? I’ll tell ya’ what – I’ve been around for a while (ask the folks on Hannity’s board who know me from years ago – telling them before the war everything that’s happened since!). If you can debate me, you can debate any liberal. Look at it that way. ;)

  14. micky2 says:

Twice now I put out a lengthy post, didnt take.

  15. micky2 says:

    I’ll try again

  16. micky2 says:

    Play nice ?
I think you owe Eric an apology for your incensitivities

  17. Jersey McJones says:

I had the same problem, Micky. I tightened it up and it took – same number of words, just less paragraph spacing.

Eric can tell me to tone it down whenever he chooses. I try to abide his instructions as best I can.

I try to avoid the personal ad hom and any profanity.

    JMJ

  18. Looks like some good folks here that are on the same page, but arguing about how well done the hash needs to be!

  19. micky2 says:

I doubt he’ll ask you, but I can see where you dont know how to draw the line, between someones personal grief and your crap.

My computer is the problem, any lengthy statement is impossible

  20. micky2 says:

I ripped you a new one three times now for treating his trip like a joke, dont worry, I’ll fix it

  21. Jersey McJones says:

    What are you talking about?

    JMJ

  22. micky2 says:

You got a lot of nerve asking me to play nice, this goes to show just what a hypocrite you are.

First of all, I think Erics blog is wonderful. I rounded him up as many votes as I possibly could for the blog awards.
I say what I said simply because of your presence.

  23. micky2 says:

Eric makes a journey that is supposed to hold some healing properties and all you can do is make the post all about your views instead of at least having the decency to wish him well. Most of anyone with a heart is suffering some kind of pain especially on 911. You mock that pain and emotion with your negative whiny cynical crap. You choose to say that you are tired of the “hysteria.

  24. micky2 says:

I wished Eric success in finding his healing , and you followed with this , “Healing? hey, I hope he’s OK”

What the hell is the matter with you? The Westboro baptist church does that kind of crap.
As much as I would like to pee on your wounds, I wouldn’t do it, I have that much decency

  25. micky2 says:

You say the war on terror is joke and farce of some sort.(that was the first time I wrote you off)
You claim to have exclusive knowledge of all the sex my friends have had. ( you had more sex than me and all of them combined, remember that one?) This makes you certifiable.

  26. micky2 says:

This kind of statement obviously comes from a fusion of insanity and an incredibly distorted ego.
You also claim to know that you could drink me under numerous tables, I never contested that because I was not into one upsmanship, the original context was Gunny and I congratulating each other.

  27. micky2 says:

But you started whining and asking if we could stop the one upsmanship. That was a ridiculous statement since it was you doing the one upsmanship, and only you.
But since you are into that kind of thing I’ll give you a taste of how wrong you are. I drank myself to death ! About 45 seconds of death ! I would need a blood alcohol of .44 24/7 just to function, never mind any kind of buzz. Ontop of 4 or 5 grams in my arm everyday. All this for 30 years straight.

  28. micky2 says:

Can you beat that ? Frankly I dont care. But at least you know for REAL what you compare yourself to now.
Also, you have a nasty habit of talking down to people as if they were your little sister in a patronizing “better than you” tone.
And as far as debating liberals goes, I go to liberal sites constantly and get ganged up on 4 to 1 sometimes and come away with lees than half the hostility I feel for you.
And you ask me to play nice ?

  29. micky2 says:

    Well, that worked, phew.

  30. Jersey McJones says:

Micky, you completely lost me? Westboro? What??? I thought maybe he was actually ill or something, that’s all. Lot’s of people travel to the NYC area for health reasons. And, not-so-funny coincidence, I actually drank myself to death once also! (Small world!) Have to zapped back. Even had a “near death experience” (and, yes, I’m still an atheist). I think I was about 22 or 23 when it happened. Drank a fifth os whisky, then ran into an old friend who got REALLY big, so I challenged him to a beer funnel contest. After five beers each, he beat me. I was p!$$ed (in more ways than one) so I went double all nothing on who could chug the most Southern Comfort. I won. The last thing I remember was him vomiting. I woke up a day later in the hospital with mys clothes torn off and my chest covered in vasoline (which can be a good thing as long as it doesn’t happen in a hospital!). I was a freebase man, myself. Not into the train much. Drinking wise, we’re amazingly similar, but drug wise, fuggetaboutit. 30 years, huh? Oosh!

Hey man, cool off. You get too worked up over nothing.

    JMJ

  31. micky2 says:

    Told you I didnt care.
    Here’s your link to Westboro.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,217975,00.html

Since the summer of 2005 the Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), led by Fred Phelps, has been picketing funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, with placards reading “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “Thank God for IEDs [improvised explosive devices],” while shouting epithets at grieving parents. Phelps believes that the soldiers represent a nation tolerant of homosexuality, and their deaths are God’s direct punishment for their sins.

This is who you remind me of.

  32. micky2 says:

Even though you are an athiest, the mentallity and range of distaste remains.

  33. Jersey McJones says:

Micky, I know all about those ridiculous Westboro folks. I just couldn’t figure out your connection between them and me. I just don’t get that.

Dude, please, be real. Are you just trying to get a rise outta me? If you really feel that way, then you’re way off base.

    JMJ

  34. micky2 says:

    You’re soooo full of it.

Erics Sept 10th post says noything about being sick.
He’s going to Wall st. for business, visit his grandma, and then to a concert.
The flight he’s taking is testament to his defiance of the fear radical Islam would like to impose on our country.
Who’s way off base when you expect anyone to swallow that weak line ?

  35. Jersey McJones says:

Micky, I’m new around here. I only know Eric from some emails and this site. Jeez, man, cut me some slack!

    JMJ

  36. micky2 says:

When you stop being so proud , arrogant and self righteous I’ll give you some slack.
I’ve only been around Erics a couple months longer than you, and we’ve had some doozies here. So far you take the cake hands down as one of the biggest jerks yet.

  37. Thanks a lot, Micky. (sheesh)

    JMJ

  38. Cody says:

Beautiful. Simply Beautiful. With your permission, I’d like to post this to my blog (accredited to you, of course), and just like you, I will post this on every September 11th. God Bless America. And God Bless You.
