Fun with Al Sonja Schmidt

Several weeks go, at a conservative comedy night hosted by Evan Sayet, I had the pleasure of seeing one of Evan’s headliners, Al Sonja Schmidt.

Al Sonja Schmidt is a conservative comedian that happens to be a black woman. So how does a black woman become a Republican? Simple. She thinks for herself, and does not let society decide her beliefs.

Her comedy routine is below.

“I am not Michelle Obama. My face can crack a smile.”

“I refuse to be a liberal woman. I am pro-military, Pro-America…and pro-shaving.”

“Society has progressed so much. We have gone in several decades from the Marx Brothers to the White House run by a Marxist brother.”

“When I try to tell blacks that I ama  Republican, it is like trying to tell them about country music. It makes no sense.”

“My daughter is a liberal. Of course she is a liberal. She is 30 and she lives at home with me. She won’t even do laundry. She blames Bush.”

“Let me get this straight. I asked her, ‘Bush lied, so you can’t use Tide?'”

“Republicans see the cup as half full. Democrats see the cup as half empty, with people being entitled to a free refill provided the cup is biodegradable.”

“Global warming alarmists remind me of cannibals. Can you imagine global warming vegans? No meals for 30 years.”

“Have you heard there is now a white women’s movement? On dates, they want to pay their own way and work for everything they get and not rely ona  man. This movement already exists. It is called being a black woman.”

“Barack Obama is not an elitist. He likes his daily arugula smoothie like everybody else.”

“Can you imagine what would happen to Barack Obama if his teleprompter broke? He would be like…’Yes we…ummm…hope?'”

“Barack Obama is not a politician. He is a religion. People donate to politicians. They tithe to Obama.”

The best part of her act is when she sings about Barack Obama campaigning to the tune of “What a wonderful world this would be.”

“Don’t know much about geography…holes missing in my biography…

What a wonderful race this has been.”

She does the entire song, and she does it well.

She is a delightful and funny woman. Check out her act.

Barack Obama’s Telepromter has a blog and you can follow it on Twitter.

  2. I heard about Imus’ cancer, Laree. I’m sorry to hear about that. I’m not his biggest fan, but he’s a good guy and I grew up with his radio shows. I hope he gets through this okay.

I haven’t been around in a coupld of days. That’s because my beloved best friend “Puppy” passed away on Wednesday. He was the very best friend any man could ever have. I will miss him and remember him dearly forever.

As for this comedian, I think the problem with conservative comedians is that they aren’t really “conservatiove comedians” but rather “partisan republican comedians,” and that’s just not that funny. “Liberal comedians” (many of whom are really not that liberal) tend to stay away from direct partisan references. Once in a while they’ll make a partisan reference, but very rarely. They tend more to goof on aspects of character and ideologies. For example, to make a joke about Bush being an idiot is not necessarily a crack on his political beliefs, but rather on him directly. People laugh at the joke because they know it’s true. When you make a crack about Obama being an idiot, only a partisan republican audience is going to laugh, because people know it isn’t true. Comedy is the study of irony and reality – it’s the ol’ “it’s funny ‘cuz it’s true” axiom. And as the saying goes, “reality has a well-known liberal bias.”

No more true than Bush being an idiot.
Doing something you dont agree with doesnt make that person an idiot.
But putting yourself in the midst of a bunch crap you cant handle most certainly brings that ones intellect into question.
I would say that the decisions Obama has made right from the choice to run up to his financial expeditions, his foreign policies shows a man who put himself in a position be surround by things hes clueless to deal with.
While some may question Bushs actions I never saw him throwing darts blindfolded like I do Obama.
Agree with the war or not it worked.
Obama has already begun to show failures that stand no chance of rebounding in the end such as we did in Iraq.
The recovery from his attempts to rescue our economy will never come about from anything he can do but simply will come about because of the will of the people and the market as it works.
As his multi trillion dollar escapade falls all around us people will still need cars, homes, food and busimness to survive and will do what they have to to get these things back on line in our society with or without the help of the fed.
Of course if were out of this mess within the next four years he’ll be sure to take credit for it in some ambiguous convuluted way.
He’ll tell the whole country that none of us would have our jobs if it werent for him even though he created none.
