J.R. Ewing’s funeral

On March 4, 2013, dastardly oil baron J.R. Ewing finally met his maker. Or so we think. Over the last three decades he has been shot several times by numerous people, and faked his own death at least once. The man has several slugs in him, and not all of them are bourbon. With the death of legendary actor Larry Hagman from cancer, the sad assurance that “this time it’s final” means exactly that. Last year an ill Bobby told his older brother “No one lives forever J.R.” He is partially right. Thanks to technology, episodes of “Dallas” will last forever. Now the only thing to do is give J.R. Ewing a proper sendoff.

Breaking through the wolfpack: Keep it classy

One of the gutsiest dating moves is trying to break through the “wolfpack.” How does a man approach one woman sitting in a group of women?

Why President Obama was right to cancel White House Tours

Due to severe sequestration budget cuts that are not really cuts, President Obama has decided to inflict pain on the American people to avoid looking like the President who cried wolf. Now the White House is canceling White House tours.

Outstanding. This is delightful.  Obama is right to do this.

Eric Holder’s real view on predator drones

Eric Holder against use of predator drones against Eric Holder

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul took to the Senate floor to mount a old-timed filibuster that lasted about thirteen hours. While President Obama is six years into a decade-long filibuster, Senator Paul deserves credit for having his shorter speech be about substance. As for the Attorney General, Eric Holder is against the use of predator drones against Eric Holder.

What the Rand Paul filibuster could not overcome

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul turned into Jimmy Stewart in “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” He began a filibuster against the nomination of John Brennan to be CIA Director. Mr. Brennan and Attorney General Eric Holder have decided that it is permissible for President Obama to launch predator drone strikes against American citizens on American soil. They grudgingly admitted that President Obama has this right even if there is no imminent threat.

Yet Sun Tzu’s the Art of War teaches people to go after the opponent’s weakness. Rand Paul made the mistake of trying to attack their opponent’s greatest strength.

Sequester update: Horse and buggy industry still obsolete

The sequester cuts that are not really cuts have finally become a reality. As of March 1st, President Obama and Congress can continue to spend like drunken sailors under the fig leaf cover of a non-existent austerity. Obama warned that if the horse and buggy industry could be allowed to collapse, emboldened Republicans would declare all out war on non-essential personnel everywhere.

CAGOP Spring 2013

The California Republican Party held its 2013 Spring Convention in Sacramento. For the first time in several conventions, the mood was decidedly upbeat. For the first time in years, there is cause for cautious optimism among the Golden State Grand Old Party.

Obama Success Sunday

Monday, March 4th, 2013

While this weekend’s California GOP Convention was a total success, it was mentally and physically exhausting. I will cover the convention in the next couple of days, but on this Sunday I will just spend a moment to recap all of the successes of the Obama presidency.

This concludes coverage of the successes of the Obama presidency.
