2016 Olympics…zzzzz

Before getting to this week’s NFL pics, here is some non-sports news.

Rio Di Janeiro, which is somewhere in Brazil, defeated Chicago, somewhere in Midwest America, for the right to host the Olympics. The decision was made by Copenhagen, which I believe is similar to Skoal Bandit.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Actually a chewing tobacco contest would be slightly more watchable. We could be the champions of chaw.

On Monday I will deal with the political angle to this story, which is that Barack Obama, while likable, is completely irrelevant.

To prove otherwise, he and David Axelrod will be ordering military strikes today against Brazil. Rahm Emanuel just sent a dead fish to the President of Brazil.

Ok, I made that up, but research showed that Brazil does have a President.

Axelrod basically claimed that the process was corrupt, and that the International Olympic Committee was an old boys network. The pot again has called the kettle African-American.

Apparently even though the lights have been turned out, Mr. Obama is still talking.

If Obama speaks in the forest, and nobody is listening, does it still make a sound?

I wonder what sport Rod Blagoyevich is preparing for.

Ok, enough political fun. Today is about sports.

My indifference is not sour grapes. Quite the opposite. I am delighted that Chicago did not get the Olympics.

I was rooting for Rio. Anybody except Chicago would have been fine.

(I did root for New York the last time, but was thrilled when London upset Paris.)

At the risk of enraging people I respect who live there, Chicago is a dreadful city. I travel there frequently on business. It is awful.

The weather is awful. Chicagoans wear it like a badge of honor. I would rather sit in my jacuzzi in Los Angeles. Chicago is freezing cold in the Winter and more insufferable and full of hot air than Barack Obama  in the summer.

Had the world never heard of Obama, I would still dislike Chicago. The snowstorms, 38 degree weather in April. It is for animals, not people.

Oh, and New York has better pizza (Chicago is very good on hot dogs and steaks).

Also, I have already experienced decadence with naked Chicago women. I have never even seen a naked Brazilian woman, much less touched or tasted one. Think vacation spots people. I have done Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but never experienced Carnival. Like a good sorority party when I was younger, Carnival seems like a good way for a guy to feel his way through the crowd.

Ok, enough bawdiness. There is a major reason not to want the Olympics here.

The Olympics are boring.

There is virtually nothing interesting about the Olympics. Yes, the highlights show pieces together the best highlights, but that obscures the fact that 17 days of competition leads to 30 minutes of watchable moments.

Look, Michael Phelps was amazing, and the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Team at Lake Placid was spectacular, but much of the Olympics is dull.

The opening ceremonies are inspiring, but they are the pre-game show. The actual game does not measure up.

Americans do not care about any sport where we do not play a major role. That is why World Cup Soccer should never be played here either. I don’t care if we lose to Iran in soccer. I care that we can defeat Iran in the game of who bombs who to smithereens first.

Now if only America could get rid of golf and baseball, two sports that I think are in the Olympics.

Golf is about hours of walking in ghastly pants to spend a few seconds hitting a ball. Baseball has hours of spitting and scratching between eventual actual plays. For every winning putt or play at home plate, there is plenty of inaction.

When the Olympics include American Football, then it will be worth watching.

At the very least, ban all professionals and go back to letting only amateurs compete.

At the very least, have a drug testing program that does not make baseball look honest.

At the very least, choose a nice location people would actually want to visit, someplace with jiggly, bouncy, scantily clad brunettes.

Oh wait. They actually did that.

Congratulations Rio.

The games may be useless, but at least the right city got them.

As soon as I figure out whether these or the Winter or Summer games, I will go back to sleep.

If I have trouble sleeping, I can always watch either past Olympic Games, or news coverage of the 2016 games.

Now on to an actual sport that matters, football. Here are the Week 4 picks.

Good morning eric. I was suprised to see a new post this early. I got up at 5 am and thought I would check for new comments. There were none.

You are right the games are boring and Axelrod is right they are political and corrupt. Obama should have done what he does best and paid the IOC off. But instead he made the presentation about himself and his wonderful home town and his wonderfulness. The world is not interest in his wonderfulness. And that fact seems to surprise Obama. I think he suffers some kind of mental illness.

On a side note, when I turned on the T.V. at 5am Juan Williams was in for O’Reilly on the “Factor”. I don’t normally watch the “Factor” I don’t particularly like O’Reilly. He seems to me to be full of himself, much like Letterman. His sign off “We are looking out for you” irks me. He is not looking out for anyone but Bill. I know he is very popular, but not in my house. Juan however was very very good. He and Carl Rove had a great exchange about several issues. He had a good debate about illegals. Had a good debate about the youth killed in Chicago gang battle and Black on Black crime. Juan was so much better than Bill. If you get a chance try to find a tape and watch. It is worth you time…

  2. I can not believe the way conservatives are playing this against Obama. It’s sickening.

He didn’t get the 2016 Summer games. Big deal. Move on. It probably had nothing to do with anything other than the fact that South America has never hosted the games and they’re very popular down there.

There’s one video of a group of Republicans CHEERING that we diodn’t get the game. Michael Medved went on and on about it ad nauseum. Sean Hannity “believes” (as if anyone other than a moron would “believe” this) that the reason we didn’t get the games was because Obama had the unmitigated audacity to actually reach out to the world and admit that America has not always acted in it’s best interest. In Hannity’s values set, admitting arrogance is worse than arrogance itself. The man has no moral compass. Limbaugh blamed it on ineptitude, a stunningly ironic statement from a man who so vocifierously supported the most inept Republicans in history. And then, of course, there was this whole thing about Obama being “over-confident” and that he’s “full of himself” and thinks he’s the “Messiah” and bla bla bla bla. Just stupid nonsense. Not a one of these bloviators have a clue in the world what makes Obama tick. So there’re just making stuff up. I guess when you spent eight years supporting a man who was so obviously full of himself, over-confident, and believed God Himself guided his every move, you have no choice but to project that failure of judement on Obama.

Our do-nothing President cannot even figure out when to stay out of something.

His score card fo achievement is 20 nos and 1 yes. The yes has to
do with the TARP, which was voted by the prior congress.

I won’t list the failures…most of us know them by now.

Oh, he did attend a play with his wife..and eat New York hamburgers..
so that’s one feather in his cap.

W.O the publicly supported health plan, the rest is just
making some adjustments to the existing plan..paid for by U know who!

The jury is still out in Iraq, which was a warning about giving timelines
and deadlines by the Republicans, years ago.

Afghanistan is being debated in the administration.

Which direction is goes AND the health plan, in my opinion, will
    make or break Obama.

The economy is going south..no matter. Did anyone see the stat yesterday. reaching 9.8% and another 7% underemployed or seeking
jobs. BTW, those unemployed do not include friends of mine who are
in their 70s and work sometimes beneath the table.

Please someone, relate to me what the current admin has achieved?

Oh I know..we will be allowed to see a small centrifuge plant at Qom.

But there is hope. Some retailiers are already advertising for Christmas
and the 1,000 dollar refunds promised US by Obama should be coming
after January 1, 2010. Remember that one..I do.

The Garofalo woman is back in the news. Why? She was on Bill Maher. I canceled HBO because it is saturated with Maher. Why pay to listen to an idiot when I can get them free on network news.

Michael Moore is on Hannity. Why? He hates capitalism? He is a multi-millionaire he can afford to hate what ever he wants no matter how absurd. I guess he knows he will have give all his money to the state when we go to socialism. Ha Ha.

Obama is back in the news. Why?

  5. Toma says:

Believe it Jers. Conservatives want Obama to fail. I want Obama to fail. I hope his administration collapses tomorrow. You don’t seem to under stand if Obama is successful we will all be living under socialism. I don’t want to live under socialism. I want Nancy Pelosi to be defeated in the next election, I want Reid to be defeated in the next election. I want all the Democrats in Congress to go home and leave me and my family alone. They are trying to control me and my family. I don’t like what they want to do. So yes I applaud when Obama makes a fool of himself. I want him out of the White House because he is a socialist.

Do you get it now? I don’t like his politics.

  6. Toma, I get this: for Republicans it’s truly party first, country a distant second.

“It is widely percieved as a deliberate snub, the IOC rejected Chicago in the “VERY FIRST” round of decision- making shortly after Obama’s speech. As Axcess News reported, one IOC member was overheard snickering: “there’s no ‘change’ for Mr. Obama here.”

I think the interational community was sending a message that they’re tired of his ego and arrogance.
Cant even get the IC to help with more troops, nobody wants anything to do with him unless it involves American money

  8. Micky 2 says:

“Toma, I get this: for Republicans it’s truly party first, country a distant second.”

    Aww bullsht.
Just because we see his policies as bad for the country doesnt mean we put the country last because we dont want those policies succeeding.
The sooner his a$$ is out on the curb the better for everyone. Hes beggining to make Carter look good.
    9 months and what ? What ?

TVs SNL on channel 4 (NBC) is a popular show. It is one of
    the channels few real hits.

Comcast is buying a majority interest in NBC.

Perhaps SNL will be shelved, but I doubt it.

Last night, there was a shocking opening dialogue by one of
the mainstays. ( He usually mimicks our do-nothing President).

I don’t think he is black, or a mulatto..but his skin color can fool us.
(Is Obama a black, white, mulatto, what? ).

HIs hair (probably a wig) is cut short for the stint.

Anyway, he listed several failures of the Obama administration..
inluding health care, the wars, the economy, etc., all major
    objectives of his (recall) campaign.

Maybe the purchase by Comcast has sent a message to NBC,
“we are tired of your Sarah Palin diatribes by Tina Fey”.

Things seem to looking up all around US.

From the rapid rise to socialism..we are waking up to Obama’s leftist
views…take from the successful and accomplished, and give to
    everyone else

Folks, we can defeat this bum and his companions. We can relegate
his advisers back to academia, where they have a naive, gullible
bunch of students, not yet experienced in the world, forgetting the work a day world…

But more importantly, we should all be watching Afghanistan.

Will Obama retreat and defeat…or will he take his generals advice
to continue the warfare against the Taliban?

Between health and the wars..Obama’s administration is being tested.

As with the upcoming NYJets game….I won’t predict a verdict or outcome.

Back in the M.E., it is rumored that the P.M. of Israel told Putin of Russia
that his scientists are aiding Iran’s nuclear weapons development and to
    cut it out.

Question: if Tehran nukes Tel Aviv, will Israel nuke Moscow?

Remember that Israel’s nuclear program was not developed to defend
against the Arabs (they didnt need it). Their 400 nukes (greater than
Pakistan and India combined) and equal to England…was to thwart
    a Soviet bomber attack.

Things are getting exciting folks. Stay tuned..maybe the NYJets will
win. Their quarter back is my kind of football player.

Here’s my problem with whole deal. Besides Obama and his slobbering love affair with permanent campaigning, teleprompters and groveling to the world, he spent 1.2 million dollars in TAXPAYERS money! That’s the money that comes out of my paycheck. That’s money I don’t get to use for college and why I’m wondering how I’m going to eat at least two meals a day this winter. That’s money my parents could be using for my brother, who was born with a severely compromised respiratory system. He needs constant medication to insure his quality of life. But my parents are now both jobless and due to that, have lost their insurance. My story is not uncommon. But while we worry about basic needs like food and medication, Obama is wasting American money to hawk the U.S’s largest city with a chip on it’s shoulder. I’ve never been the Chicago physically, but I have met people who hail from there. And let me tell you, they are miserable to be around. For some reason, they think the world owes them something, sometimes simply because of their race. To me, that would be one of the worst place to show off America. Well done, Rio. It’s about time. Eric, I’ve been reading your blog for some time now. Someday, I’d really like to buy your book. As a fellow Californian, keep up the good work. We need it.
