NFL 2024 Week 8 Prequel

NFL 2024 Week 8 Prequel

Thursday, October 24, 2024, 8pm

Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Los Angeles Rams — The Vikings will be angry coming off their first loss. The rams are wounded and the Vikings have enough firepower to win going away. Vikings cover

Sunday, October 27, 1pm

Baltimore Ravens (-8 1/2) at Cleveland Browns — The Browns are awful. They were bad with Deshaun Watson and will be worse with him out injured. The Ravens have won 5 straight. The spread is high but so is the difference in these teams. Ravens cover

Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-11) — A very bad team is on the road against a possible Super Bowl contender. This game could be over by halftime. Lions cover

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (-5) — The Texans will be angry coming off a last second road loss at Green Bay. They have a better defense. CJ Stroud is playing well. Anthony Richardson has to prove he can stay healthy. Texans cover

Green Bay Packers (-4)  at Jacksonville Jaguars — After an emotional win, the Packers have to guard against a letdown. The Jaguars lack the talent to keep up. Packers cover

Arizona Cardinals at Miami Dolphins (-3 1/2) — Kyler Murray is playing well. Tua Tagovailoa is trying to come back but one more concussion could end his career. The spread is too high for an inconsistent Cardinals team despite the Dolp[hins being wretched. Cardinals win but fail to cover

New York Jets (-7) at New England Patriots — As bad as the Patriots are in losing 6 straight, the Jets are 2-5 and overrated on all levels. The spread is too high given their lack of production. Jets win but fail to cover

Atlanta Falcons (-2 1/2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — The loss of Chris Godwin for the season will hirt the Buccaneers emotionally and from a productivity standpoint. This game could go down to the final play. Go with the home team who will rally around their fallen receiver. Upset special Buccaneers win outright

Philadephia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals (-2 1/2) — The Eagles have been winning ugly while the Bengals have won 2 straight after a 1-4 start. The Eagles have not put up impressive enough often give numbers to give them the benefit of the doubt against a Bengals team that may have turned a corner. Bengals cover

4pm

New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers (-7 1/2) — The Chargers offense is malfunctioning but the Saints have lost 5 straight and have a backup quarterback getting pummeled. This is the week the Chargers break out and perhaps push Dennis Allen to the unemployment line. Chargers cover

Buffalo Bills (-3) at Seattle Seahawks — The Bills are in Super bowl or bust mode. The Seahawks no longer have an automatic home field advantage. The Seahawks are not a bad team, but the acquisition of Amari Cooper before the trade deadline is ready paying big dividends. Bills cover

Chicago Bears (-2 1/2) at Washington Commanders — Both teams are playing good football, so it seems odd to have the Commanders as underdogs at home. Jayden Daniels is not definite to play seeing as he has sore ribs. If he plays, the Commanders win. Either way, the Commanders at home deserve the benefit of the doubt. Upset special, Commanders win outright

Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos (-10) — The Broncos are not that special but the Commanders are hideously awful. This game could be over by halftime as the Denver defense overwhelms the anemic Carolina offense. Broncos cover

Kansas City Chiefs (-10) at Las Vegas Raiders — The Chiefs are unbeaten and the Raiders are horrendous. Yet the Chiefs usually win close games. As awful as the Raiders are, and given their lack of home field advantage, the defense is playing well enough to keep this game close until the defense falls apart. Chiefs win but fail to cover

8pm

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers (-4) — For decades this was an epic matchup. Now ti is a battle of two average at best underachieving teams. Both teas lost at home last week. This could be a close game, so go with the home field. 49ers win but fail to cover

Monday, October 28, 8pm

New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6 1/2) — The Giants are awful and the Steelers are good. The Giants have no offense. This game could be over by halftime. Steelers cover
