NFL 2025 Week 5 Prequel

NFL 2025 Week 5 Prequel

Thursday, October 2, 2025, 8pm

San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams (-8 1/2) — The Rams are playing very good football while the 49ers have been slumping. Yet the 49ers always seem to have the Rams number as Kyle Shanahan saves his best for Sean Mcvsy. With this series, throw out the records and ignore home field. The 49ers could win this one outright, but beating the spread should be easy enough. Rams win but fail to cover

Sunday, October 5, 9:30am

Minnesota Vikings (-3 1/2) at Cleveland Browns — Last week the Vikings played the first ever NFL game in Dublin, Ireland. They lost. Now they play in London against a Browns team that has a decent defense but no offense. Joe Flacco has been benched but Deion Sanders’s kid is remaining third string rather than getting the start. Go with the team that can move the ball. Vikings win but fail to cover

1pm

Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens (-2 1/2) — Both teams are a surprising 1-3. The Texans finally got a win against hapless Tennessee. Both teams have talent and made the playoffs last year. Go with the home field and expect Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry to bounce back from recent struggles. Ravens cover

Miami Dolphins (-1 1/2) at Carolina Panthers — Both teams are bad but the Dolphins finally got a win last week against the even worse Jets. The Panthers destroyed Atlanta in their last home game two weeks ago. Give the Panthers the benefit of the doubt one more time at home. Upset special, Panthers win outright

Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts (-6 1/2) — The Raiders lost at home last week in heartbreaking fashion to a Chicago team trying to give the game away. The Colts lost their first game last week at a tough Rams team in a close game. Expect the colts to rebound and win fairly easily. Gino Smith throws too many interceptions. Colts cover

New York Giants at New Orleans Saints (-1 1/2) — Both teams are bad but Jaxson Dart showed serious promise and a little recklessness in his first NFL start last week. The Saints gave Buffalo a fight, but they just lack talent. Upset special, Giants win outright

Dallas Cowboys (-2 1/2) at New York Jets — The Cowboys played Green Bay to one of the greatest tie games in NFL history last week. he jets are winless. As uneven as the Cowboys are, the Jets have not earned the benefit of the doubt. Cowboys cover

Denver Broncos at Philadelphia Eagles (-3 1/2) — The Eagles are playing like the Super Bowl champions they are. The Broncos are good, but their vaunted defense will be tested against the various weapons the Eagles have on offense. The Eagles do not blow teams out. They win close games. Eagles win but fail to cover

4pm

Tennessee Titans at Arizona Cardinals (-7 1/2) — The Titans are a total mess, losing last week at previously winless Houston. The Cardinals are nothing special, but in this game they don’t need to be. Kyler Murray should have an easy time of things. The spread is high only because the Cardinals are just not an offensive juggernaut by any stretch. Cardinals win but fail to cover

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks (-3 1/2) — The Buccaneers lost at Philadelphia last week, but they put up a fight. Both teams are 3-1 and playing well. The Seahawks have a decent defense. Baker Mayfield is spreading the ball around well. Sam Darnold is comfortable behind the center. This is one to go with the home field in a close game. Seahawks win but fail to cover

Detroit Lions (-10 1/2) at Cincinnati Bengals — The Lions are clicking on all cylinders while the Bengals are a total and complete mess without Joe Burrow. Jared Goff has so many weapons, and Aidan Hutchinson has led a revitalized defense. The Lions should be able to move the ball easily, but the spread is too high for a road team against a desperate team starving to get back in the win column. Lions win but fail to cover

Washington Commanders at Los Angeles Chargers (-2 1/2) — Both teams have plenty of talent. The Commanders should get a spark from the return of Jayden Daniels. The Giants inexplicably lost their first game against the lowly Giants. Expect Justin Herbert to rebound, The Chargers have a tough defense. Daniels might be rusty. There is no home field advantage in this game. Chargers cover

8pm

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-7 1/2) — The Bills beat a pair of bad teams in Miami and New Orleans at home, but with more difficulty than expected. Mike Vrabel is in the process of toughening the Patriots up. The Bills should win, but the spread is too high given their inability to blow teams out. Bills win but fail to cover

Monday, October 6, 8pm

Kansas City Chiefs (-3 1/2) at Jacksonville Jaguars — The Jaguars got a quality win at San Francisco last week while the Chiefs blew out Baltimore. The Chiefs have won two straight and seem to have finally found a groove. Trevor Lawrence is playing well. Yet Patrick Mahomes is the three time defending AFC Champion for a reason. There is no home field advantage in this game, but the Jaguars are not just going to roll over. Chiefs win but fail to cover
