Election 2008–Armchair Quarterbacking

While I am not one that enjoys recrimination and regret, in politics it is eventually part of the process.

Barack Obama did plenty of things right, but John McCain made some critical mistakes. John McCain remains a hero of mine, and it is with deep respect that I hope the Republican Party learns from this.

First of all, the only people who care about campaign finance reform are the media, John McCain, and the 12 people that work at Common Cause. There are absolutely no penalties whatsoever for violating campaign finance laws. Campaign finance reform is inside baseball. The people could care less.

Some will say that Barack Obama lied. He did. So what? Most people would have done the same thing. Obama saw that he could raise much more money than what he would get through public financing, so he made the smart business decision. He correctly realized that there would be absolutely no penalty for breaking his word.

The media loves campaign finance reform because it gives the media more power. They use that power to influence the public towards their candidate of choice. Since Obama was their choice, he could have burned money in his fireplace to keep warm and Chris Matthews would claim it was a new form of alternative energy.

John McCain should have gone on television and said that since Obama broke his word, he would opt out of the system himself. He could have had the moral high ground and more money. Instead he decided to be like Charlie Brown thinking he would kick the football. He was starved for cash near the end of the campaign.

The wicked irony in all of this is that it was the very horrendous McCain-Feingold legislation that ate its own creator.

May this campaign be the death of public financing. Republicans have always been better at raising money, and we need to raise into the stratosphere. What will Obama do, complain?

Obama has every right to raise money. McCain should have done likewise. Then again, Obama now has saved me $3 on my taxes since that stupid box will no longer be checked off anymore.

Another disaster was the bailout package. Yes Obama was a deer in the headlights, but McCain acted like a liberal. He came in like a crusader, vowing to “do something.” Sometimes doing nothing is the answer. Obama had no idea what to do, but his hiding from public view was seen as calm and steady leadership. McCain did everything but bang the table in anger. Instead of appearing decisive, he appeared unsteady.

It also did not help that the bailout package was terrible, and politicians who voted against it were rewarded. Every time McCain thinks that he is “saving the republica” being the bailout package, the Gang of 14, or campaign finance reform, he is just angering republicans and making democrats swoon until they realize he is not truly one of them.

One other terrible blunder regarding the bailout package was the misstep over floating the trial balloon of skipping the first debate. He should have had a quiet conversation with Obama, where they could reach an agreement or not. Instead he decided to skip the debate, and then Obama successfully called his bluff. Had McCain skipped the debate, the polls could have gone either way. It would have been brilliant or stupid, but at least it would have been bold. Once McCain backed down, he looked weak, and indecisisve. Obama looked calm and steady.

Lastly, and most importantly, McCain never seemed to understand that he was only the darling of the left when he was bashing the right. They liked him when it was convenient. In the same way Gore ran away from Clinton and lost, McCain did the same. While Preident Bush was unpopular, McCain should have fiercely defended him anyway for the sole reason that separation was impossible. Trying to out-democrat the true democrat was impossible.

Many republicans, myself included, like President Bush. So while McCain did pick Sarah Palin to please the base, he was too quick to castigate President Bush, leaving the base demoralized. The reason the President has such low poll numbers is because his enemies keep attacking him, and his own side refuses to defend him. That is gutless. McCain was going to be tied to the President no matter what.

Lastly, McCain refused to bring up Reverend Wright. He chastised conservatives who did, further demoralizing his own base again. The Obama camp through Joe Biden had no problem implying that McCain was senile. The code word was “unsteady.” Obama never criticized his own surrogates who engaged in hate speech, such as John Lewis. McCain called Lewis a hero, and Lewis thanked him by calling him a racist akin to George Wallace.

McCain never figured out what President Bush understood. Liberals despise conservatives. Even conservatives that try to deny who and what they are eventually get hated. George W. Bush showed no mercy on John Kerry. Kerry was an elite snob that had utter contempt for the President, and the President gave that contempt right back in the form of blistering attack ads. McCain truly believed that if he acted like a gentleman, that graciousness would be returned.

As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, McCain never understood who his friends were. He never understood that the Jayson Blair Times would rip him to shreds once he became the enemy, which happened within seconds of winning the primary.

McCain also never made the case for the Iraq War. He kept saying that the surge worked, but then Obama would say the war was wrong from the beginning. McCain believed it was the right thing to do, and never forcefully advocated why Saddam needed to be removed. Liberals would have remained unconvinced, but moderates and independents needed to hear why it was right to forcefully remove Saddam. Again, it does not matter if the argument wins. It still has to be presented. Again, McCain fought with one hand tied behind his back.

George W. Bush said it in one sentence when the left brought up WMDs. Dubya said that “Saddam Hussein was a weapon of mass destruction.” This is not about being right, although he was. It is about a great sound bite. The policy and the political meshed.

McCain also never forcefully argued for free trade. Obama claims that he wants to get along better with our allies. If we do not approve free trade deals with Columbia and South Korea, they will cozy up to Venezuela and North Korea.

Yes this was a hostile year for republicans, and yes Obama was formidable. This does not change the fact that we as republicans lost a very winnable race. People can blame George W. Bush in the same manner that Al Gore blamed Bill Clinton. This does not change the fact that Dubya and Bubba both got elected twice on their own. Gore and McCain did not lose because of Dubya and Bubba…they lost because of themselves.

John McCain is a good decent man, and I respect him tremendously. Yet make no mistake about it. The people on the left that praise him for his gracious concession speech would never have praised him had he given the most gracious victory speech on the planet. They see him as the lovable loser, and romanticize his 2000 race because he lost. Had he been the nominee back then, they would hate him just as much as they hate Dubya. Conservatives are hated by the left. Period.

I supported Rudy Giuliani. Despite all of his baggage, he would not have been afraid to take verbal brickbats to the head of any political opponent. Those brickbats work. Just ask David Dinkins.

As for why Rudy blew up in the primaries, in a sense he ran the campaign that McCain ran in the general election. Rudy would not criticize McCain, because McCain was his friend. McCain was also his main competition.

In 2012, we will have a nominee that can do the job. What I am not convinced of is whether we will have a candidate that is ready to slash and burn to get elected.

Some will call that poisoning the well. I call it acting like a liberal. Dubya gave them tastes of their own medicine, and McCain refused to do it. Dubya got to govern. He may not be popular, but he got to sit in the Oval Office and govern. McCain never will.

Politics is rough, and we need a battering ram that will take the liberals and use them as human floor sweepers like we did in the 1980s and the 2000s.

Liberals want to win at all costs. That might be the only area of life where we truly could learn from them.

“He correctly realized that there would be absolutely no penalty for breaking his word.”

Its a sad state of affairs when this is acceptable and its blown off as “business as usual”

The failure in this case ame directly from the top.
Had McCain villified those responsible for the meltdown instead of the appraoch we saw he would of gained substantial ground.
Barney Frank, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid etc had quite a hand in the whole mess.
And yet he mentioned only a couple times, briefly.
Too many people were transfixed away from the reality that the dems have held a significant amount of power in the last 2 years and could of done much to avoid the meltdown.
Along with this it should of been mentioned that being the most useless congress this country has ever seen its quite plausable that this lack of effectiveness was resposible in good part for the F&F meltown attributing to the collapse.
Returning to Obamas slew of questionable relations may not of been such a bad idea either.
Palin was the spark, the energizing push that lit up the campiagn as nothing else had.
Her supposed “dumbness” is canceled out once any honest person sees the rate she elevated herself in coming from the PTA to a governor who at one time enjoyed the highest rating in the country.
Idiots dont get to share in success like that.

  2. “Some will say that Barack Obama lied. He did.”

Do ANY of you have ANY proof WHATSOEVER that Obama “lied” about taking public matching funds??? Are you guys just making this stuff up as you go along? Yes, he changed his mind. Yes, he didn’t keep his pledge. But can ANY of you prove that he LIED??? Because if you can’t then YOU are lying.

“John McCain should have gone on television and said that since Obama broke his word, he would opt out of the system himself. He could have had the moral high ground and more money. Instead he decided to be like Charlie Brown thinking he would kick the football. He was starved for cash near the end of the campaign.”

Again, do you have any proof that McCain could have raised more money? Did it ever occur to you that McCain took matching funds because he couldn’t raise more money? While the RNC was able, as usual, to raise tons of cash, McCain himself always lagged behind in funding, especially during the primaries. He simply wasn’t all that popular among donors. Also, donors tend to go with who they think will win. Obviously those donors knew more than most of the rest of us did. And did it ever occur to you that McCain wasn’t being like “Charlie brown,” naively believing he would get the right result from doing the right thing, but rather was stuck with the matching funds because they were his creation? He had already reversed many of his prior stands, from the Bush tax cuts to immigration reform; he couldn’t reverse every position he had vere prior held. No?

I agree with you that the bailout was extremely unpopular with many Americans, especially the social conservative base, and his handling of the bailout was szitzy to say the least. He should have stood against it, politically speaking. It would have passed anyway. And tryiong to use the bailout to dodge a debate was a huge mistake. I agree completely with that.

I disagree that bashing Bush hurt McCain. Bush’s popularity is so slim that I just can’t see how it would have helped him to overtly support or even remain ambivilant about Bush.

I think the Palin pick was an apalling mistake, and now we hear that she was even worse a pick than most of us already believed. Apparently she’s almost illiterate on the subjects of civics and geography. God knows what else she doesn’t know. And now we hear she threw hissy fits and refused assistance and then blamed her failures on those who offered the refused assitance in the first place. She’s obviously an unstable an uneducated person. Her pick may have pleased that small base that would vote for McCain anyway, but it did nothing to get any significant additional suport from the vast majority of everyone else.

And the war? Puh-lease. Americans have long since grown sick and tired of that old debacle. All most Americans want from the war now is OUT. Running on the war would have been like running on Bush-onomics: political suicide.

McCain lost because the Republican Party lost. they lost the support of the majority of the American people and ALL the polls show it. If Obama had been a white man, there would have been a popular vote landslide against McCain – even though McCain is about as un-Bush and atypical a Republican as they come. It didn’t matter. The Republcian BRAND is in the trash. And that’s why Obama won. Period.

Jersey, your man won , so why dont you quit your insistant, unfounded, disengenuous totally off the wall as ridiculous as it gets questions and b*tching ?

Are you that thick skulled that you dont know the definition of a lie, or the proof I presented to you.
He changed his mind after leading everyone to believe he wouldnt do something, after saying he wouldnt do something, after making a deal not to do something.
I have shown you actual transcripts of Obama saying these things that he would not do.
He turned around and did it.

If I told you I would not take that money and then turned around and took it, then I lied.
Wise up for crust sake, you look like an imbicile.

Had McCain opoted not to take the funds.
The simple proof is that if he did what Obama di he would of had the same funding.
Who the hell needs proof ?
Its evident to anyone that if you stick your hand in the fire it will get burned. McCain chose not to.
    That was a dumb question.

If bashing Bush did not help Obama them why did he spend so much time doing it ?
Obamas campaign sold BDS and nothing good about the man other than he could sell the offering of hope.
Why do you think McCain finally came out and told him “I am not George Bush” ?
Because after a while he started sounding like he was running against Bush.
It was all part of tying McCain to Bush.
Why tie him to Bush if Bush was so great ?

You need to examine or study logical deduction, you have none.

As far as Palin goes, when it comes to her, you’re just a hater of smart independant women who arent liberal feminists.
And McCain most definitly should of put the war up against Obama whether you think were all tired of it or not.
Obama is clueless on the middle east and McCain would of mopped the floor with him.
Also, no one is tired of the war, you just dont hear the b*tching from the left anymore or see anything on the moonbat channels because we are winning and its working.
That would of been great ammo against Obama since hes so obviously ignorant and in denial about the whole thing.

I usually dont make predictions, and unlike you I do not claim them to be fact or guaranteed.
Seeing as how the stock market is showing its not too happy with an Obama election and the day after he won Russia went and put a bunch of missles on its western border.
In a couple years, I’ll be here to rail your butt and tell you “I told you so!!”

The republican brand is just fine buddy. McCain simply misrepresented it.

The democratic brand however is in for a lot of trouble, lots of trouble.
With all the power you guys are going to have for the next couple years I wanna laugh but I have a feeling its not going to ba any laughing matter at all.

I’m going to start keeping files and records so I can throw all of yours and everyones asinine statements back in their faces in a couple years.

Since you obviously dont understand simple words like “lie” maybe when you see your own words you’ll all start believing the truth of what a collosal error there was in electing this nothing president

OMG! You two titans, step back. Breath. H won. It’s done, it’s over….

and you know what else is over? The monstrous 2008 election that has been poisoning the ‘air’ for 2 years! Praise the Lord. I can feel the pressure lifting…but wait! What else is over?

Why, the Bush derangement syndrome! Hallelujah!!! Bush will be out of office! Do you think then the left can let GO of the hostility, hatred, bitterness and venom that has poisoned politics for 8…count em….8.LONG.Unneccessarily turbulent. YEARS! Today…TODAY someone mentioned the stolen 2000 election. Winning in the electoral college, PEOPLE is WINNING! It is the system in place in this country. It has been here – on purpose – for a long time! Don’t like it? CHANGE it! But let’s LET IT ALL GO, PEOPLE!!!!! OMG! THe OPPRESSION we have been under for eight….long…..years!!!! Huge lift!!!! And no, it has nothing to do with the P-E. It’s called RELIEF!!!!!!

Micky, you’re right. You’re adorable. Give it up. Really. How long can you continue this attempt to convince J by insulting him back? Come on, Micky! Sing along with me ‘Oh Micky, you’re so fine. You’re so fine you blow my mind….hey Micky!! ;->

    J. It’s OVER! You won. Help us out here, and ENJOY it! Just…enjoy it. You’re right too, dear. And so what, what the truth is? Obama hid so much about himself, no one really knows, now do they? So….why keep going over the same ground. The republican candidate did not win. And the Republican party is now showing us why….eating their own. So, let’s do something constructive like…well…like, say…discuss the electoral college? What is it? Why is it? What is it good for now?

Or even better. Let’s debate the continuation of Social Security? Have we had enough of now of giving our money to an irresponsible government? Would it be advantageous to call it out dated, and let everyone have their money back? Or what about making it voluntary?

No? Well, either one of you read the books about the Fairtax? Man, I’m all about that! That would be a good discussion. Read it.

    Peace, my brothers.

They are wrong, I will make the case so that whoever our next republican candidate is will have that much of an easier time being elected.
This years election is just round two in the big picture and i’m coming right back out of my corner.
I believe the man is dangerous due to his naivety and his visions.
If he doesnt ruin us from the inside out he will fail miserably on foreign affairs and cost us security and lives.
As far as jersey goes, hes just for tempering purposes, a warm up if you will for the other blogs with more coherant opposition.

  7. Micky, I still see no proof from you guys that Barack lied, only that he changed his mind. For a bunch of guys who incessantly complain about slandering from the Left, you sure do a lot of it yourselves. Either you have proof that he intended to skip the funding when he said otherwise or you don’t. If you don’t, then it’s you who’s lying. Personally, I think he wanted to take the funding, but when he saw the funds being raised by the RNC and their allied special interests, he opted out. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy or happy decision.

“If bashing Bush did not help Obama them why did he spend so much time doing it?”

I don’t know. I never said it wouldn’t help him. Where’d you get that from?

“As far as Palin goes, when it comes to her, you’re just a hater of smart independant women who arent liberal feminists.”

LOL! Yeah, right! I don’t see anything either smart or independent about Sarah Palin. And, to honest, I don’t know any smart, independent women who aren’t feminists, at least to one extent or another. I don’t hate Sarah Palin. I don’t even have much of an opinion about her at all. All I know is that from what has been reported about her, and from what we’ve seen and heard, she’s apparently not the brightest bulb in the box. I’ll tell ya’ this, though – if Republiucans think she’d make a good new face for the national GOP, they’ve got a long period of obsolescence ahead of them. Young, educated, urbane voters just don’t take well to her type.

Micky, most all notable and respected conservative pundits and pols admit that the Republican brand is in the tank. Just Google News “republican brand” and you’ll see plenty of examples proving my point. I think the trouble is that you guys are stuck in 1980. It’s 2008 already! Wake up!

  8. Carole, I didn’t “win” anything. America won, though, in a way. This was truly a historic election. I couldn’t be happier. But I’m not a Dem, and I remain skeptical that the Dems can pull us out of a serious and steep historic decline. We shall see. On too many issues, from trade, to to energy, to foreign policy, to education, to healthcare, to monetary policy, the difference between the Dems and the Reps in the main is negligible. The Dems, like the Reps, have got to find a new way of doing things, or like Micky said, the Dems are going to be in the same situation the GOP is in today very soon.

But why should I be surprised that you defend lying when you have done it yourself right here on this blog.

He bvroke his commitment to the country, his deal with McCain.
Its no different than violating the vows you offer to your wife.

What would you tell her if you went and screwed around ?

    I CHANGED MY MIND ?

He misrepresented himself, its called lying.
    You lose.

  12. Micky 2 says:

    OMG.
    Just google what ?

Why dont you google the word “LIE”

You may think she is not intelligent but her history, resume` and track record, national ratings and facts say differently.
You may spread all the ideological bigotry you want, but the bottom line is this, I can show more examples of Palins brilliance and success than you can of her screwing up. Especially since half of what you say is just partisan crap based on hatred and no relative facts.

The conservative republican party is just fine.
We just need to find the right guy to represent it.
McCain misrepresented our party by not defending the conservative values that are still alive and well in America.
We all got the socialism thing after the first week, but instead he harped on it, using Joe the plumber as his puppet for almost a month.
We should of thrown many more issues at them but infortunatley the whole country got sidetracked and became fixated on the economy.
The one thing that either candidate would never be able to have much control of as opposed to the war, immigration, foreign policy, or trade.
Theres also no doubt in my mind that had McCain concentrated on Obamas questionable past, associations with radicals, lack of experience, lack of accomplishments, voting record (or lack of), self contradictions, lying about campaign finance etc… he would of stood a better chance.

Dont forget, the popular vote showed that there were plenty of conservatives left in this country.
Its almost safe to say that you party is not what it was 4 years ago.
You are all slowly turning into a bunch of socialist whiners

  13. Micky, I’m sorry, but I really just don’t care about this public financing psuedo-issue you’re hung upon. It’s stupid.

As for Palin – hey man, don’t look at me! I’m innocent! All the nastiness about Palin is coming from the late McCain camp. Ask them. I heard over at Red State they’ve decided to start a little internycene war, something called “Operation Leper,” to ferret out the anti-Palin leakers and make them pariahs within the GOP base ranks.

And you’re right about the popular vote, to the extent that there’s still plenty of “conservatives,” or at least people who think themselves that, out there. I think the Palin bashing coming from some in the GOP shows a genuine disdain for the social conservative base from the Wall Street conservative power structure (one called her a “Wasilla hillbilly”). The GOP has a serious rift here, and it’s been there ever since the Republicans took the South – the economic laizzez faire vs the fundamentalist Christians. Somethings got to give. The Dixiecrats merged the socially conservative fundies with economic populism, but the GOP sold the fundies on a mix with economic elitism and I think mix is beginning to break. We shall see.

As for “socialist whiners,” give it up already. You sound like a spoiled teenager that just read Atlas Shrugged. Nobody likes that kid.

    JMJ

  14. Micky 2 says:

Its only stupid to you because thats how you operate.
You give up, obfuscate and move on.
I care. I want him to follow thru on what I’ve been told.
Just how many times will he “change his mind ” in the next four years and not be held accountable to his commitments ?
    He’s a BS artist, I should know.

They are “unnamed ” sources, and are exactly that.
We see the press using unnamed insider sources all the time to feed political stories . Not withstanding the MSMs need to “protect” their sources, I find it pretty contemptible. If an insider was trying to spread information about corruption, that is one thing, I would still come right out and use my name if it were a disclosure of corruption. But this is merely a matter of personalities, disgruntled ones at that, pointing the finger of blame and revenge. In this case, this is nothing more than a couple (2) of sore losers trying to get the message out that it was Palins fault.
Besides, by not putting the blame on McCain, squarley where it belongs were these “unamed”sources trying to protect their next campaign job?

You have to take into account that the real bashing, which is still there, coming from the left and not residual by any measurments at all, is still alive and well.
The bashing coming from inside the McCain operation is nothing, not even close to the mass group effort we see coming from the left still, today.
The onslaught that involved trashing her daughter, her husband, the investigators that went to Alaska, the slander, etc…, that sentiment still exists on the left, its alive and well, right now, you’re the proof in your latest comments
Almost every liberal I debate never fails to throw
in some derigatory statement about Palin.

Nope, the socilaist whiners are just that.
You got your pres and yet the gays are rioting in Hollywood because they cant call themselves married, but yet have full civil unions.
Its time for this bunch to just sit down, shut up and quit whining already.
Gimme, gimme, gimme, poor me, my health care funds are cutting into my blackberry and my widescreen payments.
    Gimme what ?
A 500.00 tax break comes out to 1.40 a day per year.
Where were all these cheap dates when my hormones were raging in the 80s ?

Like I said, the ratio of conservatives is very strong, “real” conservatives.
McCain just painted the wrong image of them by the way he represented us.
And given our choices, by only being able to vote for him, most people associated us with that brand of conservatism.
Trust me, plenty of us are upset with him for this but didnt want to say anything till after the election as it would of been kinda demoralizing.

  15. Micky,

I know conservatives think consistancy is an infallible virtue, but people like me think the it’s an intellectually ambiguous. Consistency in the face of failure is stupidity. Obama was smart to turn down the matching funds. It was a tough choice, politically, but it was the right choice and I applaud him for being pragmatic. Pragmatism is a virtue. Consistency is just a state.

As for the brand of conservatism, I agree with you. The “conservative” brand is not the same as the republican brand. The GOP base is very disappointed with the GOP right now, and some of the early voting tallies show that a lot of them stayed home. On the other hand, among younger, more affluent, more educated voters – and – among blue collar white voters, Obama made significant gains over recent past Democratic candidates. And that is telling. The conservative brand – it’s ideology – might be in some trouble. People are getting a litttle sick of your petty psuedo-issues.

If anyone has petty psuedo issues is the left.
Global warming (what happened to that anyway?) Almost none of the initiatives on the ballots passed.
Feminism, gay rights, smoking bans, environmental issues that no one care about, green sex, the right to screw with no responability
Jeez, I could go on and on about all the petty little
    non issues” you guys carry.
You guys own that, big time.

I’ll tell you, you’re coming really close to having no one to talk to half the time on this blog.
I have some dignity and getting really close to not being a part of what amounts to a little boy in a grown mans body.
You’re arguements and insistant lying by omission of the obvious is a game fit for kindergarteners in the sand box.
As when you dont get your way, like throwing sand, you resort to calling people stupid or looney for their valid intelligent opinions

You play your little word games and acts of childish denial in my clubhouse and we dont put up with it as all grown men would know your full of it and just dont want that arrogant fragile ego of yours to get bruised.

Whats telling is that even in California, moonbat heaven, gay marriage got voted down for the second time.
    Dont worry bub.
If that can happen in Ca.
    Conservatism is alive and well.
    Your point is weak

  17. parrothead says:

Jersey will you admit then that George Bush DID NOT LIE to get us in Iraq, but misinterpreted the intelligence with regard to WMDs. The rest of his reasons for invading were accurate, whether or not you agree with them.

Whether or not Obama lied really doesn’t matter. If he lied and people were stupid enough to believe him they deserve what they get.

  18. Micky 2 says:

What we should do is change the rules of engagement in both wars to standards that are actually functional, just as Obama changed the rules of engagement in the campaign.
That way, if anyone accuses us of lying, we can just say we “changed our minds.”
I guarantee that if the militarys hands were untied from the constraints of PC hypersensative bleeding heart rules every con on the hill would be tagged a liar.
This is not the first lie to come where we will see Obama saying he changed his mind.
Granted, many of the promises made were previous to the meltdown so naturally the money wont be there. The only problem is, I never heard him say this yet.
He sets himself up well by never divulging too much info or a solid commitment on too many issues. He also is beggining to set up buffers not one day after the election by saying that it may take a year or more than one term to achieve any of his goals.
Since 95% of Americans have been told a million times they will get a tax cut I wonder if that will be a lie when 60 % of them, or the ones at 41,000 a year, over time fall into the definition of rich and start getting taxed instead.
Really, his ceiling has gone from 250,000.00 to 200 to 150, and will he honor the 120 that Richardson said is a different standard in New Mexico ?
Can we just make these numbers up as we go along without any research or data to justify them and not be called liars ?
Call it what you want, its deception, the amount of it and the levels that its taken to is what matters.
This is what worries me about Obama the most. This attribute, if we can call it that, will effect every issue he makes a decision on.
Deception is managed and presented in many ways.
Ambiguity, vagueness, lack of commitment, self serving justification, faux naivety, omissions, and whatever else you have.
No doubt Obama has used these techniques for the last two years and we can count on seeing much more of it now.
An illusionist is affluent in the art of deception. What he presents to you causes your senses to decieve you, to lie to you.

    As far as Palin goes.
All this talk of attacks coming from the inside is just fodder for the media, titilation, ear candy.
The first rule of a disgruntled employee is to never blame the management if you want to keep your job.
As soon as its been realized that these people would choose to remain anonymous you can pretty much count on their complaints being not worth a crap.
If they truly believe what the say they would scream it from the top of a hill, wearing a name tag.
Its also a case of just a few instances being reported many many times by different networks and publications so it tends to take on a size that is not really representative of the true numbers.
It was not Palin who laid out the plans and the strategy for McCains campaign which was in place long before she arrived. All she did upon her arrival was energize the base, and then came the meltdown and that became all McCain wanted to focus on.
    That, was the big mistake.

  20. Parrot and Micky, I couldn’t imagine being petty enough to even care if Obama lied about matching funds. It’s just too stupid.

Parrot, as of the war in Iraq and Bush’s lies in particular (I won’t even bother to get into the piles of steaming lies the rest of the administartion incesscantly conveyed)…

    Are you serious?

Why don’t you take all of say three seconds, I’m sure you can fit it into your busy schedule, and Google “bush lies iraq” or “proof bush lied iraq” or any related search you like? Try it. Then see if you want to ask me that ridiculous question again.

Micky, I don’t know if this stuff about Palin is true or not, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve never seen, read or heard anything from or about her that would suggest she’s anything more than an empty skirt. If that’s the face of the new GOP (and judging from the realignment of the leadership, I wouldn’t be surprised by that either), you guys are going to make yourselves look awefully dumb. Poor ol’ Bill Buckley must be rolling in his grave. The GOP may as well start recruiting to it’s ranks from Jerry Springer guests and Girls Gone Wild.

Dont have to imagine it. You defended his lying quite intensly.
Obviously you care otherwise why do you defend his actions so passionatly ?

“I’ve never seen, read or heard anything from or about her that would suggest she’s anything more than an empty skirt.”

Why don’t you take all of say three seconds, I’m sure you can fit it into your busy schedule, and Google “Palins resume`” or “Palins achievements” or any related search you like? Try it. Then see if you want to ask me that ridiculous question again.

No one today is harping on Bush lied anymore, you know why ?
The case was made legally to go to war, with ot without the flawed intelligence that Bush was simply repeating from various sources.

Any of the sites you suggest we google are far left opinionated blogs ar publications.
If he lied he would be brought up on charges, but he hasnt, you know why ?
Because everyone in congress, the same ones that would bring charges against him , are all GUILTY OF THE SAME MISTAKES !!!!

Once again, you have nothing but “I say so” because there is no proof that the man lied.

There are transcripts of Obama saying he would not do something, which he turned around and did.

“The GOP may as well start recruiting to it’s ranks from Jerry Springer guests and Girls Gone Wild.”
Unfortunatly most of his audience reminds me of loony leftisits who run the streets in pink jammies .
    Springer himself is a moonbat.
Nice try but that actually fell on you.

Its you guys who like idiots for railing on Palin for petty things and yet fail to hold your president elects feet to the fire for the countless stupid things that hes said and comes out of his yap.

    Nancys seance.

If Palin said that you moonbats would be aaaaaall lit up with venom.
    In a heartbeat.
