All Hail Michael “The Real Deal” Steele

Let us celebrate the beauty of America. A black man has reached the to of the political heap. May the confetti rain down. May the next few years be a never ending ticker tape parade. May we celebrate diversity until every human being on Earth knows that this black man is the answer to what ails us all.

Barack Obama? No, forget him. With all respect to Evander Holyfield, I am talking about Michael “The Real Deal” Steele, the new Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

It is one thing for the President to be black. Now we can say that the President and the leader of the opposition are also black. In addition, with Michael Steele we can celebrate the fact that along with his affable personal style, there is actually substance.

I met and had the pleasure of interviewing Michael Steele at the 2008 Republican Convention.

https://tygrrrrexpress.com/2008/09/my-interview-with-lt-governor-michael-steele/

Unlike the democrats, who judge people by the color of their skin, my affinity for Michael Steele is solely based on the content of his character. He is a true Reagan conservative that happens to be black.

I would not care if he was blue as Papa Smurf or as Green as Hillary (envy) or Barack (inexperience). Michael Steele wants to cut taxes to grow the economy. Yet in addition to being right on most issues, he has the one quality that has been missing from the Grumpy Old Party lately…likability.

Go back to every single Presidential campaign since the modern era of television in 1960. The guy that people were more likely to drink a beer and watch a ballgame with one the election.

Conservatism works. Liberalism fails. Yet optimism sells. Reagan had the ideology and the affability.

Times are tough, and delivering harsh messages of responsibility will not work without a true dose of empathy. While I believe in “suck it up,” as an individual, that is not  message that sells politically. To do good things, you have to get elected first. The GOP has finally removed its head from its elephant hide.

Michael Steele is a good man, and the best choice the party could have possibly made for its leadership.

He also has a great sense of humor. When I interviewed him, I pointed out that the GOP had Michael Steele and the liberals had Barack Obama. Obviously, the left is bigoted against the follically challenged. Mr. Steele pointed to his own head, and vowed that those without the crop on top absolutely could make it to the top. Well he was right, and as we all know, a fabulous head of hair cannot mask a lack of substance underneath.

Now we need to rally around him Mr. Steele. He was one of the only people (along with myself) who had the spine to be against the bailout from the very beginning. Now he is taking on a dreadful “spendulus” bill (Thank you Andrea Tantaros for that slogan).

The left canot exist without despising somebody on the right, and nobody makes for derision like a minority conservative. George W. Bush is gone, and Sarah Palin was the perfect whipping girl. Yet a black conservative…a dream demonization tool. Just ask Clarence Thomas.

So get ready to hear that Michael Steele is the devil. As he has warned us, he will be accused of hating puppies. Well he likes puppies.

So go ahead liberals. Attack this man personally. He will smile, and then kick your liberal hides.

Yes President Obama, I am totally comfortable with a black leader. I just want one who is not wrong about every issue that matters to me.

Go get ’em Mr. Steele.

Boy would I love to share some of the asinine comments I came across that came from the left the day Mr. Steele was elected.
Of course out of respect I wont post them but I will say that the hypocrisy on the left came to surface on that day like Mt. St. Helens.

The typical 12 year old knee jerk reaction was that Steele is the cons answer to the black man that took the office and that as soon as Obama won the presidency we went in search of a “happy negro” to represent the right.
But really, anyone who thinks past that level and knows anything about Steele doesn’t make that stop on the way to the conclusion that he represents a way of thinking that the cons have needed for a while.
Us cons are not all a bunch of fire and brimstone country western listening yee haws with a shotgun in our pickup.
Michael is young, has fresh ideas that while outside the traditional box still adhere to the basic principles of conservatism.
Unlike Obama who was elected basically out of hatred for Bush ( who couldn’t even run again if he wanted to) along with his color, because we needed to show the world how diverse we could be, Steele was elected to his position simply for the fact that he has been propelling conservatism in a fresh light longer than Obama has even been in politics.

    Hey Micky,

I hope you and Eric are right about the “Real Deal” he has a lot of work to do and I hope its not to late.

By the way, I don’t know about the yee haw and brim stone, but I am a guitar picker and like to pick old country numbers along with blues and jazz. I can saddle a horse, run a trot line and I do have gun in my pick up truck.

  3. hauk says:

Yeah- I resemble that remark too- I play banjo and some country western guitar. I also play heavy metal, classical, and folk. And I’m most definitely not a Christian.

Nor am I follically challenged- my hair is midway down my shoulders. In fact, I look kinda midway between Willie Nelson and Jesus.

I realize no disrespect was intended, Mickey, but we need to be careful not to single people out for their looks, lifestyle choices, or musical abilities.

Awhile back I used to work for the LA Chamber Orchestra. We had a formal board meeting/dinner at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles, in the Reagan Room, a very nice room with pictures of President Reagan all over. One of the board members came up and starting talking to me about how ill the room was making her feel, only to find out I was (at the time) a member of the Republican party. We ended up having a nice discussion about our differences. Admittedly, conservatives working in the non profit arts are a rarity, but it was nice to have a pleasant discussion about our differences.

It’s amazing how people think they are “liberated” and “diverse” yet still hold on to subconscious bigotries. I’ve been dragged from my car by police before and searched for no other reason than I have long hair and wear black. People ask me about drug use all the time- I’ve never done any illegal drugs in my life. People assume I’m some kind of liberal hippy because I have long hair.

I hope you’re right about Michael Steele, Eric. I really do. Not that I expect it to do much good. I have very little hope left for my country.

  4. Micky 2 says:

    TOMA.
Dont take that the wrong way.
The point is that conservatives have been cornerd into a stereotype that doesnt do us any favors.
I’m a pretty eclectic nomad who likes to indulge in a variety of tastes as do many of my conservative buddies.
I myself make Ted Nugent look like a Cub Scout having a bad day.

We can be artistic, extravagent, varied in our views and tastes and still adhere to basic conservatism.

    Really, think about it.
Were always portrayed as either little Ivy league altar boys, frumpy old white men, or country western 6 shootin yeehaws.
Thats why we see such rejection coming from the left when someone breaks that mold such as Ted Nugent, or the way Palin wa treated for being the epitome of the independent woman libs say they should be, and yet had the nerve to be a conservative.

  5. hauk says:

Yeah- and liberals are almost always portrayed as frothing mad Code Pink wackos who are out to make abortions mandatory.

There are many intelligent, hard working people who do feel that it’s okay to give to those who are less fortunate than they. (Personally I’d like to see a way we could do this while maintaining small government and low taxes. Thus, everyone wins. )

Unfortunately, they’re the quiet ones who get on with their lives and don’t take to the streets to scream their hatred of Bush.

It always seems to me the vast majority of Liberals and Conservatives- and us moderates and libertarians too, would just as soon get on with our lives. It’s the few whackjobs like the Pelosiraptor and Rush Limbaugh that give everyone else a bad name.

  6. raoul116 says:

I’m confused(NOT). I thought people voted for President Obama because they didn’t like McCain and Palin not because they hated Bush. And Mr. Steele is a negro? I thought he was a white guy with a very nice tan..

  7. raoul116 says:

Regarding us stereotyping you – sorry but it’s your own fault. You created the picture we have of you, not us.

One quick solution might help alleviate your distress – Cut the South off completely. Let them secede and fly away with their King James bibles. That would be a nice start.

  8. raoul116 says:

Micky 2 – Sorry to disagree with you but that is EXACTLY why Mr. Steele was picked. Republicans were as desperate to find a minority person as they were to have a woman on the ticket (Palin). It was so obvious that I’m baffled that you would deny it.

  9. Dav Lev says:

First, I admit to being your typical school liberal when I was in high school and college. After all, my teachers were. Then something happened, I started working and noticed that the more I earned, the more taxes I paid. It’s called the voluntary system of paying taxes…unless of course you “fail to file a return” or refuse or neglect to pay your taxes.

Then all hell breaks loose. The IRS sends notices, one or more depending on the type of tax, payroll vs income, for example. If it’s “Trust fund tax” ( withheld on salaries), look out., the next step is a levy, lien, perhaps a summons, and in a few instances, a visit by the CID special agent (criminal tax division cop). To repeat what my accounting teacher told us years ago,
watch out for them..they are your enemy..their task is to put you in
a federal prison, by hook or crook.

Anyway, I do make ES payments, not alway timely however, which then results in a notice giving me 10 days to pay or else face the music, on the penalty assessed. I can live with that however. No big deal.

I voted for the Republican candidate for President these past 3 elections.

I do receive almost weekly solicitations both by email, and snail
mail, for contributions to the Republican National Committee, some of them signed by Mr. Steele lately.

But then again, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama has done exactly what
John McCain had campaigned on. So maybe the Democrats won’t be
so bad. Only time and my dwindling stock portfolio will tell.

Our troops will be in Iraq until they are no longer needed, with
troops withdrawn transferred to the much harsher environment
(and dangerous) terrain of Afghanistan., which now is getting center
stage and considered in testimony before Congress, the most
    immediate enemy of US.

I wonder what the students in Berkeley will say when their messiah
starts displaying all those frozen boxes (now advocated by Gates) of dead soldiers returning from Kabul?

Let’s be honest, about Steele. He was picked because of his race.
I don’t think he, like Obama, is a mulatto. I don’t really know?
Bigger is better sometimes..and sometimes the more visable
    the minority, the better.

I mean, didn’t the blacks have their more than equal representation
in Washington. D.C, when you consider Colin Powell and Condi Rice,
Secretaries of Defense and State. Oh how fast we Americans forget
    and look to look away.

In fact both parties are to blame for the sub-prime mortgage debacle.
Democrats wanted loans even though they couldn’t pay them back,
and Republicans in Wall Street and regional banks (they are owned
you know by the “Patties”), were hell bent on appeasing the liberal
    Congressmen.

So now our children, their children and their children will be paying
for our lavish and irresponsible lifestyles (I rent my apartment and have
no debts) for decades (plus interest).

Isn’t it truly astonishing that the two most “Blue” states have budget shortfalls of over 40 billion each., thanks partly to their wanting to
help everyone out of a jam.

But they know that sooner or later, the new world order, envisioned
by the Democrats, will come through for them.

In New York State, this will mean highter state taxes on the wealthy,
and in California, increases in sales taxes, lay-offs and reductions
in aid to the most needy.

I have only one more thing to say, “Get the UN out of the US and the US out of the UN” That will save US billions.

  10. Micky 2 says:

    Raoul.
You’re obviously one of those one dimensional thinkers I was refering to who sees everything in a typical fashion of ignorance laced with some delusion that you have a clue.
If you paid any attention at all during the campain, long before Palin came into the picture you would of realized that Obama was pitching “the failed policies of this administration” every chance he could. and then would make that connection to McCain by saying “more of the same”
That inaverdantly led people to vote against a presumption and not so much for the candidate doing the stumping.
But who would expect someone such as yourself with such a limted cognitive ability to notice anything more intricate than a mans color.
Obama had nothing to run on except to run on other percieved failures, he had no accomplishments of his own to propell his image. He won a campaign of hate, race, and blame.

Wake up, republicans have put more blacks into prestigious government positions than dems have my a large margin, we did not need Mr. Steele to make any such statement as you so ignorantly assert.

  11. Steele does come off as rather cynical pick, much like Palin, as Raul pointed out. I mean, the other choices were pretty ironic. One guy was an old school segregationist, the other a member of an all white golf club. One would wonder why Steele would even want to be in the same room with people like that. As I said before elsewhere, Steele now has the second worst job in America, and both the first and second worst jobs are now held by black men. The GOP has wrecked this country that not even a “magic negro” as one aspiring GOP would say, is going to be able to set it right – let alone puit a nice face on the party that caused it and let it all happen. The GOP is going to have to do more than just put a few dark skinned people in high places. They’ve been doing that for years and it hasn’t fooled anyone.

    JMJ

  12. Micky 2 says:

“is going to be able to set it right – let alone puit a nice face on the party that caused it and let it all happen. ”

    B.S.
Anyone with half a brain knows that theres blame to go around everywhere. Especially with that suck ass congress being in charge of things for the last couple of years its no wonder everything started tanking once they showed up. Toss in some Clinton, Carter, CRA, pressuring banks to loan to unqualified applicants and you can put most of the blame right there.
Now that these self indulged idiots in congress have insisted they know beter than us by sticking the country with this POS stimulus the people are getting hip.
Rasmussen put out some interesting numbers today showing just how fed up everyone is getting with what has proven to be the worst congress ever in the countrys history.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/trust_on_issues/trust_on_issues

Twenty-six percent (26%) of American voters say the nation is moving in the right direction, while 66% say it is heading down the wrong track, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
Last week 62% said the nation was heading down the wrong track.

The number of voters who think America is moving in the right direction is down slightly from last week’s high of 29%,

56% Oppose Any More Government Help For Banks
Americans are clear on one thing: 75% say the federal government should not take over the U.S. banking system.
Only nine percent (9%) think nationalization of America’s banks is a good idea

62% Want Stimulus Plan to Have More Tax Cuts, Less Spending

When dems were asked who could run congress better 46% said republicans 50 % said democrats.

When it comes to taxes, voters say they trust the GOP more by a 44% to 41%, after the parties were tied on the issue in January.

Voters trust Republicans more on national security – for the fourth straight month.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of voters trust the GOP more when it comes to immigration, while 37% trust the Democrats more.
A month ago, the Democrats led by seven on this issue.

This congress has already begun to wear its welcome thin, people are getting hip to what a bunch of self indulged loosers they are.
While most of the country agrees that some sort of stimulus is in order if this POS bill fails the same way its offshoot b*tch sybling “The New Deal ” did, it wont be long before Obamas numbers are neck in neck with the worst congress this country has ever seen.
As the polls reflect, that may be sooner than later.

Another point would be that since 2/3 of the country does not want this stimulus, or form of stimulus and the popular vote was a 46/54 split I hardly see how the 2/3rds that do not want this could all be republicans.

    JMJ;
“The GOP is going to have to do more than just put a few dark skinned people in high places.”

If you dont think we realize this and that you actually think color is a ‘cure all’ then you have no business attempting an intelligent conversation in politics.

Libs who say that its cons are simplifying the solution by using color are just playing the race card again as usual. While most cons appreciate Steele for his fresh thinking and never even mentioned anything along the lines of race the first thing out of these unimaginative morons mouths is that we use color as a form of “one upsmanship”
What eles would you expect from the party that wants to compartmentalize and draw attention to every nuance in people as some sort of cultural attribute.
How ironically stupid the we must reckognize everything for its uniqueness yet not discriminate when its the discrimination that leads you to notice the uniqueness in the first place.

All this crap about Michael Steele coming from the party that says race should not be an issue is getting pretty funny

  13. Well, I don’t envy Steele or Obama. But Obama has a much greater task at hand, while Steele can fail and it won’t make any difference. The GOP isn’t going anywhere for a while. The only thing the GOP has going fpr them is that the mess they made is so horrific and Americans are so stupid, that if the Dems can’t manage to turn things around, the voters will go right back to the sleazy idiots who created this disaster in the first place. Steele seems to know this well, what with his tired old Reaganesque rhetoris and stupid comments like ‘there’s a difference between work and a job.’ Steele is a joke on many levels, but he seems to be pretty bright. He’s going to take advantage of his party’s own abyssmal failures, turn them around, and use them against the Dems to bring the GOP back to power. It will be as interesting as sickening to watch.

    Micky2,
Limited cognitive ability? I have to agree that I must have had that in the past when I voted for Reagan TWICE, not to mention when I voted for Nixon TWICE.. ROFL

Any profound nuances about that? I didn’t think so… LMAO

  16. Micky 2 says:

“The GOP isn’t going anywhere for a while.”

    The evidence says otherwise.
But of course fools like Jersey and Raoul will depend on “insight”, intuitions and opinions instead of looking at the writing on the wall.
The country is already as we speak getting fed up with having everything crammed down its throat.

” Dems can’t manage to turn things around, the voters will go right back to the sleazy idiots who created this disaster in the first place.”

In the face of the facts you still continue to think that just because you say this lie over and over it is somehow true.

    Good luck with that.

    ” ‘there’s a difference between work and a job.”

Whats so stupid about it ?
Many of the jobs that this bill will take at least 2 years to produce will only be temporary at best. What happens when all these projects are complete ?

Raoul, you’re out of your league here
Would you care to attempt to approach the nuances in the numbers I posted ?
Would you care to attempt to refute or controvert any of the points I made above ? It doesnt seem like it, does it ?
Whats more evident is that you would rather just throw around idiotic cheap shots that sound like you were spawned of the Daily Kos beginners club and blow a little smoke up Jerseys butt.

    LMAO ?
I often wonder about those who post “LMAO” as its evident that they’re the only ones laughing at their own stupid jokes while answering your own question on the same post before the one your asking can respond.

    How stupid is that ?

  17. raoul116 says:

Raoul, you’re out of your league here

I often get that exact statement from people who seem to know it all and regard their opponents with contempt. No problem – it’s the rush limbaugh syndrome at work.

Would you care to attempt to approach the nuances in the numbers I posted ?

I believe I DID in fact address the key points of your ramblings. Perhaps it is YOU out of your league with me? {G} Example – you claimed Steele wasn’t picked for his race but for his profound background and experience which is nonsense compared to the experience of other candidates running for the same office. I rebuted with FACTS about the same modus operandi used by the repukicans when Palin was picked to try and entice disenchanted Hillary supporters which didn’t work.

In other words I used deductive reasoning based on empirical observation to use a similarity in methods employed by your gods which you seem to have ignored. When you replied you began by assuming I was one of those liberals people like you are really jealous of but too cowardly to admit it.

So I refuted, once more, this time about your observations by sharing my voting in the past (Nixon, Reagan). Once more you ignored what was posted and simple thumped your chest about ‘me being out of my league over here’.

    Perhaps if you’re talking about not being low enough in intellectual acumen to be able to deal with people like you, then you are totally correct. {G}

Now, what was it you were saying about me being out of my league. ROFL

Sorry but I DO find people like you amusing. Now, unless you have something substantial to add to what I said I will be forced to conclude you have comprehension problems in addition to the other ones you have.
    graciously yours,
    raoul

  18. Micky 2 says:

” believe I DID in fact address the key points of your ramblings. ”

No you didnt, not at all.
    I asked you to refute the numbers in response to jersey saying;

“is going to be able to set it right – let alone puit a nice face on the party that caused it and let it all happen. ”

Instead you want to switch over to Steels qualifications in the face of other nominees.

    Raou;
” but for his profound background and experience which is nonsense compared to the experience of other candidates running for the same office.”

Whats so nonsensical about him being just as qualified ?
He represents more of what we need now which is to return to a Reagan based economic theory, its little to do with color.

    Raoul;
“I rebuted with FACTS about the same modus operandi used by the repukicans when Palin was picked to try and entice disenchanted Hillary supporters which didn’t work. ”

    What “FACTS”??? Where ?

Heres all of what you have said so far.
I see not one fact but instead just a bunch of midless dribble pretending to be some sort of academia based on your a$$ backward opinions

I’m confused(NOT). I thought people voted for President Obama because they didn’t like McCain and Palin not because they hated Bush. And Mr. Steele is a negro? I thought he was a white guy with a very nice tan..

See ya later Shmo, you’re off the deep ened of you think that crap constitutes as “facts”
You need your head examined as you continue in your world olf delusion laughing atyour own stupid humor.

“Now, unless you have something substantial to add to what I said I will be forced to conclude you have comprehension problems in addition to the other ones you have.”

    Please, please, please.
Show me these “FACTS” you claimed to of used.

“In other words I used deductive reasoning ”

    I beg to differ.

  19. CaroleM says:

Oh, come ON! In this current ugly political climate, someone would find fault with Jesus Christ! Michael Steele is exciting to me. Oh, who CARES what color he is! Rice, Thomas….they’ve been black all along too. No body gave them an inch for that. Drop it. Steele will either rise to the occasion and succeed, or fail to succeed….just like anyone in the job. Give the guy a chance.

  20. raoul116 says:

    CaroleM,
Give Steele a chance? Sorry but there’s an old saying “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on whatever” ROFL That was me quoting the last guy we gave a chance to. The guy who, by having the typical capitalistic laissez faire approach has caused this economic depression we now find ourselves in.

Besides, your newest savior now happens to be Bobby Jindal.. [g]
