Toddler Thursday–President Obambi Turns One

America’s adorable lil Cherub in Chief just turned one. Today is therefore Toddler Thursday.

Happy birthday young President Obambi.

I have observed this sweet little boy try to enter an adult world with as much success as most liberal children. Conservatives, like parents, are always the bad guys that are hated for not giving away free candy that belongs to somebody else and is not really free.

Yet as we prepare to celebrate his presidency birthday, I am amazed by the similarities between Mr. Obama and my close friend’s baby son. “The boy,” as we affectionately call him, is two years old, and apparently age comes with maturity.

It is tough to get mad at the boy for acting like a two year old. For one thing, he is one. Yet when President Obama acts this way, it is tiresome.

One similarity is that both Obama and the boy are gasbags. Yet lil el gaso bago (The boy, not the President) is being potty trained, and soon will not be a little gasbag. As for the President, he continues to spew nonsense.

My unofficial nickname for the boy is “3M,” after the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. I call him 3M because some of the first words he learned were “me,” “mine,” and “more.” The President is an expert with these words, especially the word “me.”

Whenever he says, “this is not about me,” he means it is completely about him. The boy is too young to know what a narcissist is, but at age two it is ok to be one.

The boy likes to stare at himself in the mirror with fascination. I suspect the President does likewise.

(I have no evidence that the President bathes with a rubber ducky.)

The boy likes to watch a children’s program called “The Wiggles.” He gets up and dances, zigs, and zags, and contorts himself into various shapes.

So does the President, when asked a question he does not want to answer. He wiggles and wriggles, and uses big words to make it look like he answered the question. He has a bigger vocabulary than the boy, but he says less in terms of substance.

The boy also watches Charles Krauthammer when his dad is watching, although that is more like being with dad. He would rather watch the Wiggles. President Obama would rather watch anything else but Charles Krauthammer, but we would all be better off if he did.

When the boy gets cranky, his parents count to three. Reaching three means he sits in the corner and takes a “timeout.” In all the times I have been at their house, the last number was two, and a timeout was averted.

The President pressed the reset button with regards to the rest of the world. Now he needs to reset his own self. He needs a do-over. Yet first he needs to take some deep breaths and take a timeout. After all, he is not getting his way, since the punishment for defying him is absolutely nothing.

Come to think of it, the President has as much influence over the world as the boy.. The boy at least doesn’t claim otherwise.

Yet beneath all the jokes is the fact that while the President talks about the future, the boy is the future. The President is on the verge of being irrelevant. The boy is as relevant as it gets.

More importantly, if the President does not keep America safe, the boy may not have the same joys in life that his father and his de facto Uncle have. There is a scary world out there. The boy right now will probably not worry about anything in the coming years more sinister than monsters under the bed. The President has to worry about real monsters that want to kill us all.

The boy lives in a pre-school world where the kids care and share and play well with others. There are adults to make sure that the kids are nice to each other. The President does not have somebody to make the bad guys behave. He has to be the one to do it.

The main difference is that the boy should act like a child. He should be allowed to believe in rainbows and lollipops and all that other good stuff.

The President needs to grow up in a hurry. He needs to lead by example. He needs to stop demonizing fellow Americans and start going after our enemies hard. If he gets this stuff wrong, there might not be a world for any of us.

Both the boy and the President came into our lives with stars in their eyes. Yet the boy will not be allowed to remain this way if the President doesn’t snap out of it.

It is time for Obambi to grow a pair. He needs to stop whining, end his toddler temper tantrums, and fulfill his job responsibilities. My friend will do his part. He will make sure along with his wife that the boy has a loving mother and father, food on the table, clothing on his body, and a roof over his head.

As for the President, he seems to be a good father. Yet unlike my friend, he is having trouble balancing work and family. Given that the President’s wife and mother-in-law help with the kids, the President needs to start focusing on his job.

Even though he will only be two next year from a presidential standpoint, he needs to start acting above his age. Unlike the boy, who should grow and learn at his own leisurely pace, the President must grow up right now this minute.

Children grow up way too fast. Some adults never grow up at all.

May Toddler Thursday be about the boy, and not about our Peter Pan President.

  1. Obama is a mature man. President Bush was a living joke. The currents heros of the right must have William F. Buckey truning in his grave. Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck – these people are jokes. Barely a brain cell among them. And yet otherwise perfectly competent and intelligent people are sing the praises of these living jokes while casting aspersions on a president who is ten times their intellect. Amazing. All those insults and not one substantial critique. I guess when you have no substantial critique you fall back on empty insults. Very dissappointing. I expect more than that here.

    Jersey.
Dont even make me give the list containing many many examples of Obamas idiocy and immaturity.

Eric did in fact give good examples of his immaturity.
Whe you gonna learn that things arent so just because you say they are ?
What is it ? Some mental disease ? Chronic obtuseness ?

Eric mentioned Obama demonizing and blaming everyone but himself for his failures. Want the list ? Should I start with that unbelievable display of cry baby when he went after FOX ?
    Thats called immaturity

If he was so damned intelligent he would of acomplished something by now. But even with the majority in all three branches he cant even figure out how to get anything done but instead has had to end up breaking campaign promise after campaign promise and move just about every deadline hes mentioned down the calendar.
Only a kid goes into the presidency thinking its all going to be as easy as Obama thought it would be.

Conan got it right the other night.

Instead of the old slogan Obama used ” Yes We Can” he should change it to ” This Is Freaking hard ”

Also, you guys could do yourself a big favor by learning that although someone may be of a certain intellect that doesnt make them smart.
All your days in college doesnt mean you know how to wipe yourself.
Oh, wait, wasnt it one sheet as prescribed by one of your advocates ?

  3. “Eric mentioned Obama demonizing and blaming everyone but himself for his failures.”

What the heck are you talking about? Demonize who? It’s just politics, Micky. That what politicians do. that’s what they’re supposed to do. If Fox incessantly rallies against everything Obama, then he’s right to point it out. If the GOP is threatening a filibuster on some bill he wants, then iof course he’s going to complain about them. It’s what ALL polticians do. EVERY president does it. Were you guys born yesterday?

Of course Obama understands the diffculty of the job. He most certainly has more feel for the weight of the office then that mentally handicapped predecssor of his! At least this president can string a comprehensible sentence together! God, for eight years, especially when I was working in international trade and was around foreign nationals all the time, I was EMBARRASSED of our president. I was EMBARRASSED to be an American. Foreignors used to ask me all the time, “What happened? Why are Americans voting so stupidly? What’s wrong with America today?” Now I could hold my head up high around those people. America’s not as intensely stupid as I and most of them once believed.

So, what do you guys do? Have the unmitigated gall, the adolescent audacity, the insanely ironic hypocrisy to call Obama immature! Amazing. There’s no measuring the cojones of a conservative. I’ll say that for ya’.

*** Guys – Obama is on TV right now – something terrible happened at Fort Hood! ***

“Fox incessantly rallies against everything Obama, then he’s right to point it out. ”

Maybe, but like a cry baby in the sand box he tried to exclude them from pressers.

    Waaaaah !

“At least this president can string a comprehensible sentence together!”

Not without a teleprompter buddy ! This is common knowledge already.
Otherwise eveything is… “uuhh”, “ahhhh” “Ummm”, “Ahhh”

“I was EMBARRASSED to be an American. ”

    Sounds like a personal problem

” Why are Americans voting so stupidly? What’s wrong with America today?” Now I could hold my head up high around those people.”

    Bullsht.
I remember you talking about that “bloke”.
And today, the English and Eurpoeans aint that crazy about Obama bub.
Everything Obamas asked them to help us with was returned with a resounding “NOPE”

    Heres your hypocrisy.

” America’s not as intensely stupid as I and most of them once believed”

And then yesterday you accused me of calling Americans stupid only when they didnt see things my way.
Uh uh buddy, I never did that.
But for the first 2 years I knew you thats all you ever said was that Americans are idiots.

“Micky, why is it that when the American people believe something you agree with, they’re smart, but when they believe something you disagree with, they’re stupid?”

So, its obvious that you only think they’re smart when they vote liberal.

This president is the worst I’ve ever seen. His own base is ditching him.
he only gets high marls for being a nice guy. Thats it.
I’d almost give my left one to see Clinton in there.

  5. Micky 2 says:

“Guys – Obama is on TV right now – something terrible happened at Fort Hood! ”

Guy – The news was out long before Obama showed up on the tube.

Lemme guess… you’ve got specialized sensors on your TV that turn it on whenever Obama speaks ?

Sorry, :-) I just found it amusing that even though the story had been out hours before Obama made his statement you only became aware of it when he spoke.

I’m gonna say it, go ahead everyone, excoriate me.

I find it suspicious that for Bushs 8 years we had no Muslims attack us on our soil.
Now in the last 9 months weve suffered two attacks on our military from Muslims. One at the recruiting center and now this.
To be fair, I think they’re both “radical” Muslims.
I think its fair to ask, “whats going on”?

Were there concerns voiced by anyone over this guys actions and statements ?
If so did those concerns make their way up to officals who at some point dismissed them ?
Is this a result of the administrations complacent attitude towards radical Muslims ?
Were orders handed down to avoid any resemblace of profiling ?
Should this guy of been profiled after the many things he said that would of sent up red flags in any other administration ?

I wouldnt go as far as to blame Obama for this directly but is it a result of the country becoming tolerant to the point of being ignorant of the most blatant examples of anger towards America ?

  6. I was gardening this morning, then had a job interview, and then I came home and took a quick nap because the wife and I have a stomache bug, so I didn’t realize what happened at Hood until I was sitting down at the pc with the news playing in the background later in the afternoon.

A lot of good questions you ask about this. One thing that concerns me is that this guy may have been allowed to continue service, even though he may have been a known risk, because the military may have a serious lack of psychriatrists. Apparently, the military figures it needs about 1 psychiatrist for every 350 soldiers, but as of now, there are only 1 per every 750.

I remember, one time, blogging here, I pointed out that the known kill rate among American combat troops was like 95% as opposed to about 5% back in WWII. I posited that this must be a consequence of improved training and types of combat we’re experiencing today. I believe it was Eagle who confirmed my posit. Because of this kill rate, and the type of combat we’re seeing today, soldiers are experience much higher rates of PTSD than in prior war-times. Ergo, the military needs a lot of psychiatrists. But if that means leaving the door open to terrorists (IN THE MILITARY!), that’s going to be a HUGE problem.

Putting this on the administration seems a little goofy. Hasan has been in the military for some years now. The military is sort of a universe unto itself. Presidential administrations only have so much control over the everyday lives of every single soldier and non-com. That would be unacceptable micromanagement even to liberals like me, let alone military worshippers like you conservatives. It is the military that polices itself. They have their laws, courts, doctors, economy, etc. Blaming Obama for this is firstly premature, and secondly counter-intuitive. This guy has been around the military since the Bush administration, and he’s been behaving very un-military-like for a number of years. So, by your logic, Bush would be to blame too. I would disagree with that notion as well. This isn’t about Bush or Obama, but about the military and it’s ability to fulfill it’s needs.

Did the military ask the congress for more money to attract more psychiatrists so that they didn’t have to take risks with lunatics like this guy? If so, did the congress give it to them? If yes or no, then who and when and why?

Now those are questions I’d like to hear asked.
