Why the USA truly is America the Beautiful
https://www.facebook.com/eric.golub.5/posts/10155694654130401?notif_t=like
My grandparents & dad escaped the Nazis. Everything they had was taken in the Holocaust. My grandfather came to America and washed dishes. He lived in a 1 bedroom apartment and had holes in his socks. My father graduated college, became a schoolteacher, reached the American middle class, and is now retired with my mom living in a home they own outright. I managed to get an advanced degree MBA, become a Vice President in the stockbrokerage industry before going on the speaking circuit that has taken me to all 50 states. I live in a beautiful area and have a good life. I am still only 1/2 the man my grandpa was, but he had so much more to overcome.
Only in America is this dream a reality. I love this country because it has given me everything. My grandfather and father were hunted like dogs. I am free. I get misty eyed when I hear Lee Greenwood sing “God Bless the USA” because it rings truth.
As I watch fireworks tonight and munch on hamburgers and hot dogs, I thank our Founding Fathers, our fallen soldiers, our veterans, and our current soldiers.
I thank almighty God for creating this nation and the late Ray Charles for singing “America, God done shed his grace on thee.”
In any other nation, my story would be uncommon and heroic. My story is ordinary because America is extraordinary and exceptional.
God bless America, now and forever. Thank you America, for allowing a child of Holocaust survivor to experience what we call this American dream.

- Anne Widner Excellent! These accomplishments can only be done by the Grace of God. How dare those foolish politically correct people try to remove Him from all public life, and then enact laws that punish those who revere God’s laws above man’s laws.

- Richard S Rogers Well said, Eric. Your story is no less inspiring for actually being commonplace. I find it depressing to realize that so many Americans are either ignorant of or indifferent to the tremendous and unique opportunities that our nation has historically offered to those willing to exert effort and accept responsibility. Happy Independence Day!

Marc Mauss Hi, Eric. Corinne attended our Fourth Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence and flag burning (respectfully, to dispose of no-longer-serviceable flags), where she told me about you and said that you and I think alike about many things. She felt we would each appreciate the other’s viewpoints and postings, so I am sending you a friend request.

Steve Goldberg Eric, thank you for sharing. I have watched you and my son Eric grow up. Both of you have similar backgrounds, you both have become men fathers can be proud of. You are so correct when you say this country allows us to achieve our dreams. Let us never take for granted the grace of God or forget the sacrifices that have been paid for our freedom. Let us always work to keep this country free, so our children and grandchildren can achieve their dreams.

Nancy Nurse On my Mom’s side, her parents came over in 1890. Swiss immigrants with no education, and did not speak English. Great grandfather got a job as an assistant on a beer truck. His job was to take the barrels off/on the horse drawn carriage. It was back breaking work. taking the barrel off the truck, you BOUNCED it once on the lip of the back, then BOUNCED it to the ground before rolling it in the bar. He Did this for several years, before his hard work was recognized, especially since he spoke English by then. A driver was leaving, and this day was his last day as an assistant. The NEXT day, he was to be a Driver. Better pay, more responsibility, since he would collect the cash, much less manual labor. He was so happy as he BOUNCED the barrel on the lip of the truck, and it BOUNCED back UP. striking him in the head, and he was never be able to work in ANY job again. By then, he and his still youngish wife had 3 boys, and a 4 yo, my great grandma. His wife was already scrubbing floors, and taking in sweing..now she also became the janitor for their 6 floor tenement to help pay the rent. As the boys grew older, as soon as possible, she had them quit school. and get full time jobs in addition to their part time “kids’ ‘ jobs. But as soon as they were old enough, they took off, one joined the Army, got stationed in Maine, and stayed there the rest of his long life, the next one got a job as a machinistt, moved away, married young, the next one, john, had a hand in many businesses, boith legal and shady, never gave her any money, either. So, at age 14, my grandmother, who LOVED school dropped out and worked for NABISCO..on an assembly line, until Grandpa married her when she was 20 yrs old. By then her Dad had died, and Great Grandma lived with them until she died, 18yrs later. In their living room were 2 pictures, one of Jesus, and one of JFK. and In front of both houses they owned, was always a flag pole with the American Flag proudly raised every day
