President George W. Bush–The Final 100 hours

President George W. Bush is in the final 100 hours of his Presidency.

I wish his speech had lasted that long.

Here is the entire text.

Below are some of the highest of the high notes.

“As the years passed, most Americans were able to return to life much as it had been before 9/11. I never did.”

“Afghanistan has gone from a nation where the Taliban harbored Al Queda and stoned women in the streets to a young democracy that is fighting terror and encouraging girls to go to school.”

“Iraq has gone from a brutal dictatorship and a sworn enemy of America to an Arab democracy at the heart of the Middle East and a friend of the United States.”

“There has been plenty of debate about these decisions, but there can be little debate about the results. America has gone another 7 years without another terrorist attack on our soil.”

“Under one (belief system), a small band of fanatics demands total obedience to an oppressive ideology, condemns women to subservience, and marks unbelievers for murder. The other system is based on the conviction that freedom is the universal gift of almighty God, and that liberty and justice light the path to peace. Advancing this belief is the only practical way to protect our citizens.”

“Around the world, America is spreading human freedom, human liberty, and human dignity.”

“I have always acted with the best interests of our country in mind. I have followed my conscience, and done what I thought was right. You may not have agreed with the decisions I made, but I hope you would be willing to agree that I made the tough decisions.”

“The gravest threat to our people is another terrorist attack. We did not seek this conflict, but we have been given solemn responsibilities, and we must meet them. We must never let down our guard.”

“We must reject isolationism, and its companion protectionism.”

“If America does not lead the cause of freedom, that cause will not be led.”

“Good and evil exist in this world, and between the two there can be no compromise. Murdering the innocent to advance an ideology is wrong every time, everywhere. Freeing people from oppression and despair is eternally right.”

“I have confidence in AMerica, because I know the character of its people.”

“With the courage of our people, and confidence in our ideals, this great nation will never tire, never falter, and never fail.”

“I will always be honored to carry a title that means more to me than any other…Citizen of the United States of America.”

For those that need to understand what really matters.

Bill O’Reilly offered his sentiment.

“Decent people, and all the polls show this, like President Bush as a person. They feel that he is a good man.”

I disagree with Bill O’Reilly. George W. Bush was never a good man. He began as an inconsequential but likable man. He has become a great man. He leaves, and should always be remembered, as a Great President.

Sean Hannity offered a similar sentiment regarding the Iraq War.

“He sacrificed his public approval rating and stood on his principles because he believed it was the right thing to do.”

Also, one of our European Allies, in England, offered sentiments as warm as they were justified.

I have never made any bones about it. I love the guy.

To me he will always be the man who stood with that firefighter on September 14th, 2001. I still sob uncontrollably when I see him pick up that bull horn.

“I hear you, the rest of the world hears you, and pretty soon the people who knocked down these buildings are going to hear from all of us!”

When Lee Greenwood sings “God Bless the USA,” I picture those three firefighters hoisting that American flag high in the air.

The 2008 election was tough for me, but not because of the outcome. I realized that no matter who won, George W. Bush would no longer be leading this nation. Both of his potential successors were good, decent men, but neither one was him.

Then again, he grew into the job. He faced horrors that no President should ever have to face. Yet through it all, he kept his poise, his class, and his dignity.

He may have fractured his syntax, but he held America together.

I believe in almighty God, and I believe that he chose George W. Bush to be this man at this time.

Yet it was up to President Bush to rise to the challenge. He entered with goodness, and leaves with quietness matched by his greatness.

In 100 hours, he will be a private citizen again. He is comfortable with this. He is at peace.

That is what I hope and pray he receives in abundance.

May God bless him, Vice President Dick Cheney, First Lady Laura Bush and Second Lady Lynn Cheney.

The ultimate goal is to make the world a better place. George W. Bush has helped do this.

Real heroes do not spend every minute of their lives announcing that they are heroes. They let their deeds speak volumes.

George W. Bush has spread freedom and liberty around the globe. In doing this, he was…and is…right.

The next chapter will begin in 100 hours.

As for now, I can only clap loudly and enthusiastically for the man I affectionately call “The Dub.”

Luv ya Dubya.

Farewell Mr. President.

I appreciate your gracious thanks, but you need to know one thing.

It was my honor sir.

Does this mean the community leader has 100 hours to produce a false birth certificate or does life carry on as if he is legitimate.
I can’t believe his laughable selection of appointments. I keep thinking I will wake up from a bad dream.
No, dream is not the right word.Nightmare is more appropriate.
How can so many voters get it so wrong. It’s beyond me.

    Alifonz.

The dems have been convincing minorities for decades that they were victims and have managed to turn that sentiment into votes.
This time they convinced more than minorities that they were victims by running against a man who couldnt be re-elected if he wanted to.

I’ve noticed that even though many of Obamas campaign promises have already been taken off the table, many moonbats still choose to bash Bush instead of defend the failures that Obama is already racking up, and he hasnt even gotten started yet.
Tax incentives for small business that hires new employess… gone
    leaving Iraq…gone
    Universal health care… gone
    College tuitions…. gone
    Closing Gitmo immedietly… gone
Wire tapping reversed… never was gonna happen, he voted for it to begin with.
Giving up any executive authorities that he said that were illegal will never happen, when is the last time you saw the executive branch ever let go of any power ?
All the programs that leaving Iraq would of paid for…gone
I wouldnt worry too much about the birth certificate.
I seriously doubt that he doesnt have the credentials, my biggest problem was why he didnt just whip it out in the first place.
Is trying to get ahold of another 350 billion without a clear plan as to how it will be spent.
And keep your eyes open for that global poverty tax hes gonna sneak up on us. (“Global Poverty Act” (S.2433) . Thats another 850 billion we dont have
On the B. cert., you still have to figure that if it were really an issue there would be at least one prominent figure on the hill makin a stink about it.
So dont worry, him setting the bar too high, along with his lack of judgement will be enough to make these morons realize what a gift George Bush was.
You could see in his eyes last night that although he was remaining gracious and positive about our new leader he knows in the back of his head that its American percerverance and pride that will get us through our hard times, and not Obama.
At least thats what I think.
Bush wants us to support him, which we should to a certain extent. I dont want to see any additional hardship on our country just because its more pleasurable to see him fail rather than America be rewarded with what it deserves.
But I will hold him accountable for every word that comes out of his mouth and every penny he spends.
I will not “come together” for the sake of ideology after watching a good man be unjustly hounded for 8 years. We will survive at least 4 years of democratic rule, but its my obligation to see that it goes away and more sane policies return under a republican president
The republican party needs to stop looking like a bunch that starches and irons its underwear and only listens to country/western, and at the same time expose the lack of judgement we saw in the election process and the result.

This is a wonderful post, Eric. I’m going to add you to the links at the bottom of my post with others who are thanking him!

    All,

    Read Charles Krauthammer’s piece, Townhall.com!

    Eric,
Very good article. You represent the sentiments of more American Citizens than some people care to admit. Real American Citizens, such as legally registered voters with authentic documentation, seem to be in the minority today.

The Dems with help of George Soros and his organization of illegals have bought the White House. All we can do is pray that Obama is not an Idiot. I see congress as the major problem facing the planet today. Congress is littered with Idiots. Inept, corrupt, vendictive Idiots. They prove it each time they open their mouths. These people are unbelievable. I quote Will Rogers. “When I make joke about congress its just a joke. When congress makes a joke its a law”! What a joke!!!

  6. Watch says:

    Eric, my friend–

You already known that I too love George W. Bush!
He was not perfect. How can one serve without making some errors?
Hid biggest error was in not defending himself, but then he would have no time to do his job.

History will serve him well, just as it has with Truman and Reagan.

We can only pray that in 2012 we still have a nation as we know it. One where we can still vote for our leadership and illegals are not ablre to determine the winner.

I fear that will not be the case!

    God Bless Amereica!
    God save Isreal!
    God Bless us all!

  7. My gall bladder just up and jumped out of my mouth and ran down the street screaming incoherently. Is that normal?

  8. Micky 2 says:

Before or after your brain fell out yer butt ?

Yea, you’re just going thru BDS withdrawls.
Make sure when the ban is over that you dont over compensate for the missing endorphines associated with the rush.
Over compensating or thinking you have to make up for a missed dose is how most alcohol poisoning and ODs occure.

  9. ozman says:

Republicans pray, Democrats prey, and Libertarians stand by and watch helplessly.

  10. LOL! Micky, I’m starting to look like one of those doctor’s office anatomy dolls that fell off the table and spilled parts all over the place! It’s not BDS. Heck, when I, and most other eductaed people, talk about “Bush” we’re referring to his entire administration, along with the late GOP one-party state. I mean, it would be tedious to have to write “the Bush administration and the late GOP one-party state” every single time we want to express a thought about them. It’s easier to just write “Bush.”

No, what made my gall bladder jump out and run off screaming were these little gems…

“(Bush) has become a great man. He leaves, and should always be remembered, as a Great President.”

“To me he will always be the man who stood with that firefighter on September 14th, 2001. I still sob uncontrollably when I see him pick up that bull horn.”

“When Lee Greenwood sings “God Bless the USA,” I picture those three firefighters hoisting that American flag high in the air.”

Yet it was up to President Bush to rise to the challenge. He entered with goodness, and leaves with quietness matched by his greatness.”

“George W. Bush has spread freedom and liberty around the globe.”

Darn, now I need a new gall bladder!

Yea well, I felt just as awful watching this proceeding with Obama today on the train and all.
If they (the media) put anymore artificial sweetner on this 3 day inauguration deal…Especially after everyone got on Bushs case about all the money he spent on his inauguration and then we have to see this ?
    Pot, meet kettle.

ya know, take the oath, and go to work.

All of those credits to Bush are valid, maybe a they were presented a little too sappy for my taste, but they’re true.

    On the God thing.
    My perspective is this.
God didnt choose anyone for anything.
He gave us free will to choose, and the abilities to do anything we put our mind to.

George decided what he wanted to to and respected his maker by making the best use of his gods given talents and achieved his goal.

    I’m not a superstitious man
