This past weekend, Rush Limbaugh lit up CPAC.

Initially scheduled to speak for 20 minutes, he roused the crowd for an hour and one half.
This crowd wanted red meat, and Mr. Limbaugh served them up steaks, bloody and delicious.
His rally for all things conservative and against all things liberal will again inevitably lead his critics to treat him as leading a flock of sheep.
After all, without the “leadership” of somebody such as Rush Limbaugh, conservatives would never think the way they do.
It is for this and other reasons that people need to know the truth. Rush Limbaugh does not influence me. I influence him. He is a member of my audience. He agrees with me.
Yes, this may sound pompous, but too many on the left have no clue what makes Rush Limbaugh effective.
I do, with considerable help from many of his other listeners.
I respect Rush. I share his views on two-thirds of issues. I came to those conclusions without him.
You see, contrary what is taught in our dreadful liberal public schools, conservatives are also born with a cerebrum, a cerebellum, and a medula oblongata. Unlike those on the left, we were also given a funnybone.
Rush Limbaugh appeals to the brain and the sense of humor. Yet if he never existed, we still would. We created him, not the other way around. He is not my leader. He is a follower, just like me, in a powerful movement known as conservatism.
I have never met Mr. Limbaugh. I have never spoken with him, or interviewed him. Yet I am proud to have him stand shoulder to shoulder with me because he shares my conservatism. He understands that liberalism is a scourge. It must be defeated everywhere it rears its head.
I grew up in New York and left to go to college in Los Angeles. Like many children of decent and hardworking middle class Americans, I learned traditional values. It was less about left vs. right than right vs. wrong. I saw what the schools did. I despised them for it, and still do. I realized that if that is what “those types of people” do with controls of schools, I never wanted to find out what they would do if they controlled anything else.
When I got to California, I attended a Jewish university. This meant the professors were socialists, and so were many of the students. The more they tried to indoctrinate me, the more I fought back.I was subjected to left-wing bullying by other students, which the professors not only condoned, but encouraged. Intimidation and peer pressure was a way to try and silence my conservatism, all in the names of “enlightenment,” “tolerance,” and “diversity.” I was even called a murderer for voting Republican.
When I would express a conservative thought, I would often be confronted with the nasty reply that “I took my marching orders from Rush Limbaugh.”
There was one problem with this theory. I had no idea who this Limbaugh fellow was!
Most liberals were comparing me to a man I had never met, or even heard.
Remember, before Rush Limbaugh became all national and all world, he was a fellow from Sacramento, California. Until a couple of weeks ago, I had never even been to Sacramento. With the exception of Oakland Raiders games, anything outside of my Los Angeles area seemed pointless. In fact, the Raiders were in Los Angeles at the time, rendering even Oakland not vital except for historical reasons.
I grew up on Long Island. We had Scott Shannon at Z-100 and the morning zoo. We had WBLI 106 for top 40 hits. Yes, I remember Don Imus and Howard Stern, but Rush Limbaugh? Didn’t know him.
So how could I possibly understand conservatism without a radio talk show host to guide me?
By thinking for myself.
I saw what liberalism did to people. It destroyed them and ripped their insides out. It trapped them in failed schools, condemned to misery. It would tur out that no matter what the political issue, liberalism equaled misery. Only a liberal could possibly want that.
In my junior year of college (which I completed in four years, not four-and-a-half, five, or ten years like many liberals), a friend of mine gave me a book that he thought I might like. The year was 1993. It was Rush Limbaugh’s second book, “See, I told you so.”
Yes, it was fabulous. However, it did not offer me any “revelations” or “new insights.” In fact, quite the reverse. With each passing chapter, I would exclaim, “I’ve been saying this for years.”
So the only thing Rush Limbaugh did was reconfirm what I already strongly suspected.
On issues, I was right, and those that disagreed with me needed cranial-glutial extraction surgery.
During 1993 and 1994, I watched his television show every evening. He was funny and entertaining. At work, through much of the 1990s, I had his program on while working.
Yet Rush and I went our separate ways, even though we still share a proud conservative ideology. Their was no public split. I still liked his opinions. I just do not listen to any radio at work. Also, since my commute in the morning is only 10 minutes, there is simply no time or reason to listen to any radio program. I did radio myself for 15 years, so I listen to old cds of myself. I skip my own voice and just listen to the music.
Yet despite not having heard Mr. Limbaugh’s program in years, I still maintain my conservative credentials.
Apparently my brain still functions. Liberals might want to try this. After all, they are the ones that bow before their anointed ones, who teach them to be bipartisan and spread peace through anger, rage, hatred, and violence toward anybody they disagree with.
The only lesson Mr. Limbaugh truly gets across that I sometimes forget on my own is the importance of optimism. As he says, we “should be of good cheer.”
When all is said and done, I still think Rush Limbaugh is fabulous. Yet our brief associations are of want, not of need. We both succeeded without the other one.
When my book and speaking engagements carry conservatism andRepublican ideas to the next level, many people will give me the credit.
It will not be because of me. I will just be reconfirming ideas and beliefs that many people were…and are…right to have in the first place.
So thank you Mr. Limbaugh for your agreeing with me. I anybody asks, I will tell them the truth. I did not tell you what to say to CPAC. You said what was in your heart, mind, and soul, and it was right. Had I given the speech, your response would have been “ditto.”
We are both that good, and so is every conservative that pays attention and agrees with us.
We get it. Liberals never will, because if they did, they would be conservatives.
eric
I came home from the store Saturday night and my 14 year old had pulled the speech out of the DVR on his own and was listening in amazement.
I thought I was gonna cry.
Eric, while guys like you and I dont need Rush to tell us what its all about he can be the offset to the crap being pushed in schools.
Wanna bet Ward Churchill would get more air time at UCLA than Rush ?
Occasionally I go to a place where “frummies” hang out. For those
who don’t know, frummies are Orthodox Jews, whether simply Orthodox,
modern Orthodox, Chabad, Haredi (ultra-Orthodox-the guys with the really large black hats) and Satmar. Many of these groups take their
names from European Jewish communities, wiped out in the Holocaust very efficiently, quickly and easily by the German SS squads (when Jews were not armed), labled A B C D.
Despite a recent move showing a few Russian partisans fighting the
Krauts, there were in fact about 30,000 Jews out of 3.5 million Polish
Jews which fought against the Reich. In the Warsaw Ghetto, when 50,000
Jews remained after 450,000 were shipped to Treblinka concentration camp ( and murdered wholesale), in bunkers and other devestated areas
bombed by the German airforce, they held out for a short while, until
an SS division was sent in to finish them off. It should be known that
the Germans had placed machine guns every few hundred feet surrounding the ghetto….to keep the Jews in for their eventual extermination.
I am reminded of my college days, when several (Jewish) women I knew, raised in “liberal” homes, didn’t adhere to the Torah requirements about
dating and marriage.
Each lived years of desperation, hopping from bed to bed, trying out
new people, trying to learn who they were (thanks to their liberalism: be kind to everyone, give charity to all, but don’t care about yourselves).
Years later, now I sometimes run into them….finally they are settled. They
could write books on their former lives ( “A Jewish Gal Looking for Mr.
Goodbar” or something akin).
But back to the frummies. I couldn’t help notice so many young women,
maybe 20-25, dressed nicely but moderately. They were all married
and had 2-4 “Kinder” with them…so loving, so adoreable. Some mothers were
again pregnant.
I thought about my college days, and all those wild students, many of
them Jewish., but far more “other”., seeking instant gratification,
always looking for someone better, more handsome, perhaps richer,
hopefuly a member of ZBT (zillions, billions and trillions), a Jewish rich
frat.
Looking back, they were sophisticated whores., thanks to turning
their backs on the 613 commandments in our bible, seeking something
else, less restraining, more “exciting”.
They paid for it..and are still paying for it keeping the psychiatrists
happy..who tell them what I knew years ago, by just simply reading
the 613.
BTW, to digress, the Iranian government is requiring the nitwits
who are in Iran (representing Hollywood) now, to ask the industry
to apologize for the movies, “The Wresler” and “300”., while the regime
forces their WOMEN BACK TO THE 9TH CENTURY.
I was wondering if our good host was going to bring up the Limbaugh/CPAC story. I was curious to read your take.
A lot of conservatives say things like “I share his views on two-thirds of issues” but when you look at it issue by issue, it’s usually more like 95% of the time. There is this strange aversion among conservatives to link themselves to Limbaugh. Limbaugh is such a divisive, and often just plain hateful and nasty, character, that conservatives feel they have to distance themselves from him even though they are really right in line with his rhetoric. but he does have tremendous influence over the way millions of people think.
You hit Limbaughs popularity right on the nose when you said, “the only thing Rush Limbaugh did was reconfirm what I already strongly suspected.” AM Talk Radio had always been the realm of the ranting rightwinger who said things that the rest of us were afraid to say in polite society. It started with Father Coughlin back in the 30’s and evolved later into guys like Bob Grant. Then along came Limbaugh. Limbaugh found a way to say the sorts of things we would never say in polite conversation politely. He took hateful, backwards, bigotted, classist, reactionary, hawkish, xenophobic, corporatist thought and pakaged it into a seemingly benign, humorous, polite rhetoric. Though many people had already long since managed to accomplish this, Limbaugh trained an entirely new demographic and generation in this style. Limbaugh is the single most important and influential conservative figure of the past twenty years.
I’d also like to note a funny hypocrisy. I understood when Limbaugh said that he hopes Obama fails. What he meant was that he hopes Obama is unsuccessful at turning the country to the left, even if only a little. Yet when liberals expressed the same opinion of Bush’s endeavors, we were told that we wanted the nation to fail or suffer, as opposed to Bush’s ideological agenda. Hypocrites.
JMJ
“Yet when liberals expressed the same opinion of Bush’s endeavors, we were told that we wanted the nation to fail or suffer, as opposed to Bush’s ideological agenda. Hypocrites. ”
Bull.
he couldn’t even stand in front a “mission accomplished” banner without you morons rallying off that cheap shot “Oh, oh, look ! He’s trying to say the war is over!” Jeez for the life of me that was the most pathetic lame a$$ attempt at painting a false face on a speech I’ve ever seen. If I were lib I’d want that episode buried never to be heard of again.
Then there’s Reid, Reid stood in front of the whole country and said that as a matter of fact, the war was lost.
Pathetic little puke was so intent on making Iraq a failure he got a little ahead of himself, wouldn’t ya say ?
The failures you morons were wishing upon Bush dealt in the cost of humans lives, the lives of our troopers fighting for the freedom of morons who say crap like that.
If the body count got so high no one could stand it anymore and Bush did pack it up, your guys would be out dancing in the streets celebrating Bush’s failure before you remorse over one dead soldier. You would of finally been able to take the relished joy of confirming the idiocy you accused Bush having while the deaths of our soldiers would take a back seat to your hatred for the man.
Oh, oh, wait, lets cover our a$$es by saying we support the troops.
What a bunch of crap. The biggest definition of failure in war is the body count, and you guys wanted failure, plain a simple, cut and dry (go smoke it) no two ways about it.
I want Obama to fail in order top preserve what quality of life my son is entitle to under his inalienable rights.
I’m not hoping for a bunch of dead bodies to make my point.
There’s nothing hypocritical about it.
Why shouldn’t we want something so detrimental to fail in the interest of bettering the country ?
You guys wish for us to fail only for power and don’t give a rats a$$ about anyone.
Face it, we never go away for long, enjoy your little political Caligula while you can.
“A lot of conservatives say things like “I share his views on two-thirds of issues” but when you look at it issue by issue, it’s usually more like 95% of the time. ”
Actually, the latest numbers on both CNN and FOX indicate only about 1/2 of us really agree with him a 100%.
Ya know, were a bunch of feeble minded lobotomized lemmings who cant think for themselves.
Last Friday I just got done telling you and bunch of other moonbats some of the same things Rush said on Saturday.
Remember ?
Jersey;
“For the GOP to come back, they have to appeal to a broader swath of the American people”
Me;
“Nope, we need to remind people that the free market capitalistic limited government approach is what works.
After Obamas policies of massive government intervention, class warfare, wealth redistribution on fail flat on its face we wont have that hard a time convincing people to go with what has always proven to be a winner.
And please, dont use the last 8 years as an example, there were just too many RINOs involved to call that a truly conservative administration.
Theres some really great minds out there taht incredible scholastics and genius behind them, they just apply it to and for the wrong causes.
Trust me, they’re out there, (our future leaders) it wont be that hard, but like I said, when this administration is ka poot in 4 years anything resembling conservatism will be better.
Its not gonna be a very hard act to follow.
Really, stop thinking you sound like you know what you’re talking about by asserting that the GOP is so screwed for a definition, candidate or new image to run on and that if we dont do any of what you suggest were screwed.
I suggest you worry more about the collosal failures coming up that you’re going to have to explain away.”
“(Bush) couldn’t even stand in front a “mission accomplished” banner without you morons rallying off that cheap shot “Oh, oh, look ! He’s trying to say the war is over!””
So, hypocrisy is okay if someone else is doing it, huh? Man, and you guys complain about moral equivilancy! What a joke!
“Pathetic little puke was so intent on making Iraq a failure he got a little ahead of himself, wouldn’t ya say?”
And here’s more hypocrisy in action. The war was a failure. He was simply pointing it out. We’ve managed to turn things around a little since then, but still we have no idea how things will turn out in the end. Certainly, if not a failure, it was one of the stupidest and most wasteful boondoggles in our history.
“Actually, the latest numbers on both CNN and FOX indicate only about 1/2 of us really agree with him a 100%.”
You misread the poll. It was on Limbaughs general positives and negatives, not percentages of agreement among all Americans. It showed that an appalling 56% of men has a positive view of Limbaugh as opposed to 37% of women. Just the same, that’s really embarassing. It’s hard to believe there are that many people out there who like this guy. As for people who really know anything about Limbaugh aside from general impressions, it’s a small but significant portion of Americans, about 4.5%. That is stunning, though. Limbaugh is extremely popular and influential, and rightly creditted for moving the country to the right in the early 90’s. Now it’s up to him to pull the same trick a second time. I hope he fails.
JMJ
“So, hypocrisy is okay if someone else is doing it, huh?”
Not hypocrisy, its called LYING !!!! And neither you or any deranged moonbat has ever proven otherwise.
He never intended to tell anyone the war was over, just that major combat missions were complete. The damn banner wasnt even for him, it was for the ships crew whos mission was complete, it was the capts idea and was issued by the pentagon.
I have all the documents from the pentagon, the capt, CNN, all stating the whole proceess beggining to end, wanna get yer butt handed to you again ?
“The war was a failure.”
At some points there was failure, but the war was and is not lost. If Harry was so right why are we still there ? And why did Obama just congratulate all the troops on their success making what it is today ?
Tell me Jersey, you just said we wont know how it will turn out so how the hell can you say its lost ? (I want an answer)
“if not a failure, it was one of the stupidest and most wasteful boondoggles in our history.”
I could say that about your first date, so what ?
But what is quite evidently one the biggest boondggles ever is Obamas plan for economic relief. The reaction to his little war on the economy has the whole economic atmosphere in this country running around with a roll of Charmin in their hands in preparation for his next stroke of genius.
His support for this endeavor is no where near the support Bush got for the war, hell, most of congress voted for it and Bushs approval rating were way higher at this time in his presidency that Obamas are now.
“but still we have no idea how things will turn out in the end. ”
Ha ha.
We have a hell of a lot better idea than you or Harry do, thats for sure.
Most opinions today are that it will work out for the Iraqis, thats not what your buddies were saying a couple years ago.
“You misread the poll-showed that an appalling 56% of men has a positive view of Limbaugh as opposed to 37%…”
No I didnt.
37 – 56 = 19
Split the difference of 19 and its about half like I said, you’re reaching for straws buddy.
Well, I’m not getting into “mission accomplished” again. No matter how you parse that debacle, it remains one of the most infamously stupid moments in American history.
The problem with Iraq is that we still don’t know what the future holds for them or what would happen if we left. As it is now, they are precariously teetering on the edge of Iranian styled Shiite Theocracy and along that line, no one has gained more from the invasion of Iraq than Iran. So, it’s hard to see a “victory” here. That, and the blood and money just wasn’t worth the prize.
As for the Limbaugh numbers, again, he has a large audience, but nowhere near half of Americans really know what he stands for other than that he is a conservative in general.
JMJ
“Well, I’m not getting into “mission accomplished” again. No matter how you parse that debacle, it remains one of the most infamously stupid moments in American history.”
Yea, cuz you moonbats went and tried to make it something it wasnt.
“The problem with Iraq is that we still don’t know what the future holds for them or what would happen if we left. As it is now, they are precariously teetering on the edge of Iranian styled Shiite Theocracy ”
No they’re not.
Obamas dirty little secret in keeping with the Bush agenda is to keep 50,000 troops there until Iraq can totally hold its own.
“no one has gained more from the invasion of Iraq than Iran”
I laugh like Sam Kineson by the way.
And I’m rollin on the floor.
You yourself have said that Irans people are not really happy with their leadership, the country is upside down right now.
This BS that the Iraq war has empowered them is just more looney moonbat conspiracy propganda designed to diminish the effort.
Our eye is on them for reasons that have little to do with Iraq. The revolutionary forces have returned in defeat and know whats good for em if they come back and were not gona allow the Iraqi parliament to take that path on the bodies of all our dead troops.
I didnt say half of all Americans. Why would anyone count those who dont listen to him ?
DUH.
———————————————————-
“That, and the blood and money just wasn’t worth the prize.”
“we still don’t know what the future holds for them or what would happen if we left.”
Yea well, common sense dictates you oughta wait and see like you said before you say it wasnt worth it, like you just did.
Jeez, doesnt your self contradiction make you dizzy (er) ?
“Not they’re not.” ???
That’s your response???
Do you ever actually read anything about what’s happening to the government over there? I know you guys love to read stories from the soldiers, and that’s all well and fine, but has it ever occured to you that there’s more to the story than just waht the boots are seeing on the ground? Do you know what the Dawa party is? The Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council? These guys and the Sadrists basically run the country these days. They are close allies with Iran. What happens if we leave? Are these guys going to do exactly what they have said they would do for decades and turn the country into a Sharia Shiite Theocracy? Already, the country is more theocratic than it’s EVER been. Do you ever bother to keep up with this stuff, or do you cons just prefer to blindly applaud the stupidest thing America’s done probably ever? And okay, fine, so the Iranian government is the big winner here. I don;t think the Iranian people want another theocracy next door either, so this is a loss for them. So what’s funny about that? Do you cons always laugh at other people’s misery? Is that what’s funny to you guys? Are you the kind of guys that laugh when the cripple falls off his wheelchair? No wonder there’s not a decent comedian among you! And common sense DICTATES that you don’t invade a nation in the FIRST PLACE unless you ALREADY HAVE SOME FRIGGIN’ CLUE WHAT THE RESULT WILL BE.
JMJ
Eric Mary Matalin and Imus were discussing Rush Limbaugh and the Michael Steele Apology this morning. Imus: Michael Steele can’t fold like a cheap lawn chair.
http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/2009/03/imus-mary-matalin-discuss-republican.html
Do you ever actually read anything about what’s happening to the government over there? ”
Yea Jersey, I’m not going to cut a paste all the articles I’ve read that endow me with the fact that we would not let happen what your fear mongering butt is suggesting would happen.
‘No they’re not’ was not my best response, stop being so disengenuous and making up false arguments like a baby in some sopomoric argument., I gave you the most important and basic reason explaining why.
You jst cant stand that Obama is maintaining most of , if not all of Bushs foreign policies. I’ll bet it just burns the crap out of you doesnt it ? So instead now your going to make a bigger deal out of a smaller problem in your relentless pursuit of the rush you get from your BDS.
“Oh crap ” what I’m gonna do now ? I can blame Bushs anymore ! Guess I’ll have to make something up here”
heres another example of you pulling stuff out of your butt.
“Do you cons always laugh at other people’s misery? Is that what’s funny to you guys? ”
Show me where I implied humor, or was laughing ?
“No wonder there’s not a decent comedian among you! ”
Thats a laugh, the raunchiest are no doubt dominated on the left simply because most comedians are left.
Jezz, I could make list of gross liberal comics starting with Lenny Bruce up to Al Franken that would make that statement look ridiculous.
“And common sense DICTATES that you don’t invade a nation in the FIRST PLACE unless you ALREADY HAVE SOME FRIGGIN’ CLUE WHAT THE RESULT WILL BE.”
Regardless of your obfuscation you still need to stop spinning and contradicting yourself.
No, common sense dictates that you go in no matter what lookin for a the set objective that drove you there in the first place.
Of course you have that crystal ball always handy so it makes sense that normal thought process doesnt apply to you.
We are getting the results we went after.
So be quiet and let the real men do their work
There wasn’t ONE SINGLE SOLITARY “REAL” MAN THAT GOT US INTO IRAQ. We NO business there. We have NO business there. We should NEVER have rescues that sleazy, crooked, slave-holding, pile of scum known as Kuwait in the first place. To hell with that whole part of the world. The Israelis should just leave. We just all just stop doing business with the ME. And let that desert rot until the people there finally grow up and throw all their sleazy crooked leaders out and start some functional decent republics over there.
JMJ
“There wasn’t ONE SINGLE SOLITARY “REAL” MAN THAT GOT US INTO IRAQ.”
“We NO business there. We have NO business there. We should NEVER have rescues that sleazy, crooked, slave-holding, pile of scum known as Kuwait in the first place. ”
Thats just your opinion (as usual) and really holds no bearing on the issue.
Whether you believe that who got us there is a real man or not is irrelevant, what I meant was the men and women that have since volunteered to do the right thing.
They’re doing a wonderful thing and you should really praise the effort of those who had the vision and are willing to risk their lives instead of just running around like some punk and p$$ing on everything that everyone does because they dont see it your way
YOU’RE NOT HELPING
The fact of the matter is that if we let that part of the world go about its way it would have serious collateral effect on economies and security around the world.
Pakistan, India, are nuke powers along with Iran trying to join that club is something we cant affortd to leave un-monitored.
“And let that desert rot until the people there finally grow up and throw all their sleazy crooked leaders out and start some functional decent republics over there. ”
I’d actually love to see that in that I’m a firm believer in comming to your own awareness of your problems, ya know, the whole “hitting rock bottom” theory thats applied to addiction seems to work well with any kind of harmful habitual habit an individual or society might have.
Unfortunatly it wouldnt be a victimless event if we allowed it to go its course as you suggest, and you know that.
Oil trade to the world would be all f***ed up and the humanitarian disaster would be one like weve never seen.
It most certainly wouldnt be fair to Israel if we let the middle east eat itself because no doubt the desperation by such an event would cause any number of anti semite factions there to go after them first.
Israel has no obligation to go anywhere except right where they are at.
Besides that, you morons on the left would be the first to somehow make it the fault of conservatives for whatever happens in the event that suggest.
I think the cost of erecting a few democratic states the way were doing it now will have far less of kinetic effect than just up and leaving the place to its own devices.
Those morons have been running around beefing with each other for centuries and will never stop without some kind of intervention.
“You are my boy Blue”
I could not agree with you more. I would say I agree with Rush about 80% of the time. Sometimes he goes off on tangents that I so not agree with. But majority of the time I agree with him. I listen to him as i wind down the night from the 24/7 members on his site.
And to Jersey McJones. Have you ever listened to Rush???? More than a week at a time???? I think that 48 million people voted the same way that Rush did. Obama does not have a mandate, and he is acting like he does and will get a backlash at the far leftward turn he is doing.
To my conservative friends: some suggestions for saving our country
from socialism. (1) reduce the tax gab by 50% each year. The gab for those who don’t know, are the taxes NOT paid each year to the IRS either because returns are not filed (5m) or returns filed showing a tax liability are not paid, or returns filed show an incorrect tax due to underestimating
revenue or over estimating expenses.
Now you might ask, how can the IRS accomplish this? Well for starters
have the Dept of Justice hire 100 more US Attorney’s to do nothing
but investigage failure to file returns and fraud..and prosecute accordingly.
About 3,000 people are found guilty each year by the Dept of Justice
for fraud or willful failure to pay, and failure to file. This, is about the same
number of centrifuges Iran now has to manufacture fissionable uranium for “Peaceful purposes.” Iran has boasted another 50,000 within 5 years for more peaceful material.
Heck, if Iran can have 60,000 centrifuges, we can prosecute an equal number.
The value would be to scare the daylights out of the rest of the dead
beats who are really fleecing America. If they were to pay, that’s 150b
less than the rest of us would have to pay in taxes or the cost of
both wars yearly.
(2) Buy America first..especially big ticket items, like cars.
Heck, Chrysler, Ford and GM make excellent cars. Think about it
folks, GM’s net worth is 1billion dollars…and Oprah is worth more.
Maybe it’s Dr. Os or Amos, or whatever his name is. You know, the guy
who likes to show her audiences arteries with PVD (peripheral vasular
disease).
A chicken in every pot should be replaced by a Ford, GM or Chrysler
in every garage..not just one, but 2, or 3 or 4.
(3) When you see a “made in China” tag on merchandise…or a computer
or TV, look for an American product instead..that is, made in America,
by Americans.
(4) when you see a “made in Egypt” shirt..or Pakistan, look for a shirt
made in Alabama, or Georgia, or New Jersey. It feels good to
know you are not financing terrorism or a country which wants to
bring Hamas and Fatah together…. Hamas is the government which
has threatened and is persuing the destruction of one of the 180 plus
members of the United Nations.
(5) when you buy fuel for your car…think about oil from Canada,
or Mexico., not Iran or Venezuela. That will do more to stop
fascism and socialism than anything I can think of.
(6) support Republican candidates for Congress, Federal and State
legislators.
(7) end student loans except for those who go into the professions,
from the get go. At least they can be expected to pay the loans back.
I mean, why subsidize letters and arts majors, majoring in psychology
and philosophy…especially when they themselves could use some
therapy? I call them wannabe John Stuart Mills and Emile Durkheims.
Has anyone ever heard of Emile but me from sociology 101? I mean
John Stuart Mill when we have Alan, Paul and Tim?
More later on how to save US from US.
[…] Steyn on the other hand examines RNC Chairman Steele on his attack on Rush and prompt apology. More on Rush here. […]
Rush is just an entertainer – nothing more. Just as the head of the RNC so clearly stated. What Limbaugh says is based on generating media ratings and $$ in his pocket. He has to answer to no one as it is a one way rant for him. He’s not worth any of the media attention he gets.
The title of Al Franken’s first political book says it all.
Dav Lev–You are so right about our women. It is not quite as bad in my country, Israel, but it is getting there.
A few comments on Rush and Iraq.
Fighting Islam’s wars and arming the enemies of Israel [in preparation for the “Final Solution” to the Arab-Israeli conflict ?] will only bring grief to the American people. Surrounded by American trained (and funded) enemies, we will soon be forced into a terrible war for our survival, and your Arab friends will be the losers.
Limbaugh’s position on the traitorous Dubai Ports deal..and blaming it’s semi-failure on the “Jewish Lobby” (resulting in a brief feud with Sean Hannity) was enough for me.
Peace.
Oh my God, just when I thought I’d heard it all someone thinks that Al Franken, the head a$$clown of the democratic party is the last word on Rush ?
“He’s not worth any of the media attention he gets.”
Thats why Franken ran Air America into a hole.
Please, wise up, when it comes to media attention the public has without a doubt said that Rush is worth every penny
Rush Limbaugh and those on the Right…
This past weekend, Rush Limbaugh lit up CPAC.
Initially scheduled to speak for 20 minutes, he roused the crowd for an hour and one half.
This crowd wanted red meat, and Mr. Limbaugh served them up steaks, bloody and delicious.
Yes, this may sound……
Hey Eric, …hate to interrupt Micky and Jersey’s conversation but I have to say, “I AGREE WITH YOU!”
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard Rush tell a news story (that I had heard the day before) and start talking about it. He simply echos my point of view. The same point of view I expressed the day before.
Of course I’m “hateful, backwards, bigotted (sic), classist, reactionary, hawkish, xenophobic, (filled with) corporatist thought” and I love that Rush has “pakaged (sic) it into a seemingly benign, humorous, polite rhetoric.”
Maybe that is why I took such a shine to you when we met… We both tell Rush what to think and he listens to us.
BROTHER!!!!
Great post, Eric. I’m a 34 year-old female and have been listening to Rush off and on since college. I am proud to admit that I agree with him 99.9% of the time! I can’t think of any major issue on which I disagree with him. I don’t know why conservatives are so hesitant to identify with him. He is so positive and inspiring, and I learn a lot from him, also. He is not hateful, backwards, bigotted, classist, reactionary, homophobic, or xenophobic in the least. That’s what liberals who have never listened to his show say about him. Anyone who has actually listened to him knows he is none of those things.
However, like you said, I would have been a conservative if there had never been a Rush Limbaugh! (I grew up listening to Ronald Reagan and had conservative parents. For me, conservatism was just a natural way of thinking and looking at the world.)
I often find myself watching the news and having a certain thought, and then tuning in to Rush’s program to hear him voicing the very thought I had.
I don’t think Rush would disagree with anything you said here. He often says he is just a voice for millions of Americans who ALREADY agreed with him before they ever heard of him. He’s just a great communicator of the conservative worldview. He’s the best, actually. I read a lot of columnists and listen to a lot of conservatives, but he is the most articulate and entertaining of them all.
Long Live Rush!!
I’m so glad I didn’t miss this post, Eric. It’s a wonderful post! Rush also echoes my point of view. I think I even agree with more than three fourths of his talking points. The man is a genius, pure and simple, and has a huge audience which is exactly why the liberals hate him! They hate conservative talk radio because they have yet to figure out how to run a liberal radio talk show successfully and Air America proves that. What a total farce that was!
Again, great post, sir. You outdid yourself! :)
