Isolation Saturday II–CRA vs RJC

I cannot be in two places at once. This weekend is the California Republican Party State Convention. I cannot go because I am in Oklahoma City. Today I am speaking to the National Federation of Republican Women. I am humbled by this honor.

Yet last weekend also had a pair of amazing events. The Republican Jewish Coalition had their 25th anniversary celebration in Las Vegas.

The keynote speaker was Mississippi Governor Hayley Barbour. Other luminaries included Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia, and Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota.

I would love to tell you all about it.

Yet I was not there.

I was at the California Republican Assembly 75th anniversary celebration in Orange County, at Knottsberry Farm. I got to speak in front of gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner. Congressmen Darrell Issa, Ed Royce, and Dana Rohrabacher were the other speakers.

While the CRA event was amazing, I bet the RJC event was as well. Yet I was not there.

The CRA had me as a speaker. The RJC had a full lineup. I have spoken to many RJC chapters, with more to come. Yet I could have gone as a guest. I didn’t.

I made a cold, business decision. The CRA event put money in my pocket.

So what is wrong with this?

Well for one thing, Jews are my people. As fabulous as Christian America has been to me, I sometimes feel a sense of isolation being the only Jewish guy in the room. This was not the case at the CRA event, but I passed up the chance to be with my fellow Jews in favor of a chance to pursue the almighty dollar.

If I had a chance to do it over, I would have changed nothing.

I need to make a living. I just wish I did not have to rely so much on Christian America. With 70-80% of Jews being liberal, I have no choice. I need to eat.

I hope one day that I can speak in front of many more Jewish organizations. Until the Jewish community breaks away from liberalism, this will not happen.

The RJC is fabulous. The CRA was ludicrous.

I only regret not being in both places at once.

I had to choose, and I made the right choice for me at the time.

It briefly felt isolating, but so is having no money to buy food.

I did the right thing.

  1. Tehy paid you to speak? I mean, I can see getting accomodations and meals, maybe, but being paid to speak at a political event? I don’t know, man. Do you really believe this stuff or are you just getting paid to say you do?

The man actually is nmore intelligent than you, so yeah, I would pay to listen to him
I’ve heard you and the way you talk to people on the radio and after that theres no amount of money you (YOU) could come up with to get me to listen to you ever again

  4. Don’t get me wrong, Micky. I think the world of the Tygrrrr. But no, I don’t know if he’s more intelligent than me. As with anyone, he’s probably better at some things than I, and I at some things than him. More intelligent? I don’t know. Neither do you.

The point I was making is one I’ve made many times before, and it gets to the previous post: money is not speech. Add to that: paid speech is not the same as free speech. ;) Again, I love the Tygrrrr, but sometimes I just wonder if our good host always really truly believes what he says.

yeah well, hes the one with book and and blog that people actually pay attention to… and read.
hes way better at a lot more things than you’ve probaly never even dreamt of

  6. My blog used to get plenty of hits too, Micky. In fact, it got so many it was becoming a problem. That’s why I had to shut it down.

Micky, like you, our good host espouses some things that don’t seem all that intelligent to me, and I’ve got a pretty high IQ. ;)

I think your projecting your insecurity again, Micky, and it’s very unpleasant – and adolescent.

Yeah, its just one huge farce

You honestly have no clue as to just how dumb you really sound at times…
    do you?

I never wanted to look at it this way but it just seems more like it, day after day that liberalism is actually a disease of the mind.
I mean the more I listen to it, the more I try to arrainge it into my head hoping that at some point it wiill congeal and makes sense….
    it never happens

  10. Bla bla bla… “disease of the mind…” bla bla bla.

All “isms” aside, take the label off and you’ll find people have all sorts of opinions about things. Fir instance, ask Americans if they are “conservative” or “liberal” and more will say they’re conservative. Then ask them about the positions on particular issues, and they’re all over the place, utterly impossible to label. Ask people what they think of “Obamacare” and anywhere from 60-70% will say they’re against it. Ask them about the particulars of the bills, and a substantial majority is for 70% of it. Labels are fine for generalized conversation, but pretty much useless when you get to any particular person’s particular positions.

With Eric I notice that he pretty much tows the Wall Street Republican line on everything, I mean everything. Yes, it is a little hard to believe that anyone would be for everything that a particular political group espouses. That’s why I asked Eric if he’s running for office. It seems to me that he is going a way out of his way for someone who just wants to blog and be politically active.

I don’t think Eric has any disease of the mind, though. I think he knows exactly what he’s doing, and yes, he’s very good at it. That’s why people pay him to hear him speak. You, on the other hand, seem to have no real stake in partisan politics, and yet you take an extremely partisan position. That kinda makes me wonder…

I disagree with the Dems all the time. Heck, I just wrote a long letter to a guy running for congress down here, lambasting him for using that recent jobs bill to bash his opponent over tax credits for businesses to hire employees. I told him that was like filling the gas tank on a car with a broken transmission. Who the hell hires someone to do nothing just for a tax credit? It’s demand that creates jobs – not supply. That’s why supply-side economics have been such an unmitigated failure. And why the Dems would co-opt rightwing economics is beyond me – rightwingers will NEVER vote for them anyway! I hope he listens to me.

I disagree with the Dems about corporate taxes. I am against “free trade.” I don’t think “cap and trade” does squat. I think the Dems spend way too much political capital on social nonsense. It goes on and on. I couldn’t even imagine towing their line 100%. That would be a “disease of the mind” – or a thinly veiled attempt at gaining a career in partisan politics. ;)

The disease I’m refering to is the lone that involves “idealism”

    “wouldnt it be nice if…”

Too bad, real life and real terms dictate no matter how much you love that rainbow comin out the unicorns butt, and love the kumbaya idea of Rodney King and all of us “just getting along” its not going to happen.
As much effort as you schmucks have put into the middle eastern “PISS PROCESS” its not going to work because that rainbow flying out that unicorns butt has blinded you all to the realities that certain people just freeking hate people for reasons that can be applied to their studies of history or indoctrinated by what we see being taught in American schools at this point.
My son is being BSd by present curriculim into how mistreated the Palestinians and have been bla bla bla fckng bla without being informed as to just whos financing the movement, indoctrinating the innocent Palestinians minds into hating a people that have actually done more for them than any other who even claims to be their friend(S)
yeah, God forbid we mention the aid and assitance that the Israelis give to these people while whats being taught in or schools totally missleads the kmids from absorbing the fact that Obama and other liberal motivationd are actually financing and giving money to these shmucks.

Yeah, you’re all sick in the head and your actions in the past have proven just what failures your favorite frame(S) olf mind have brought us.( the “new deal was an indication of wishful thinking above reality)
Since you actually bombed the crap out of Japan because the simply would not give up was the last time we saw the left with its heads screwed on to a functional application
