Yes folks, two posts for the price of zero in one day.
I would like to thank Joe Biden for keeping his remarks very brief. It is difficult to combine so much of lack of substance in such a short speech, but Barack Obama and Joe Biden each spoke for about 20 minutes. The announcement of Biden came at 3am, which may have been a knock at Hillary Clinton. I sure hope it was.
Below are some comments from both men with my analysis.
Barack Obama:
First he praises Dick Turban Durbin. They are both from Illinois. He has to do this.
Then he thanked man who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Harmless enough pandering.
He mentioned Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. This was highly appropriate, sincere, and decent.
President Bush is bad, change is good. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
“Joe Biden brought change to Washington, but Washington has not changed him.” It’s a good line.
He never moved to Washington. Ok, I give the guy credit for balancing family and politics better than most.
He survived aneurysms. Between that and the loss of his first wife and young child, the man has experienced more pain than most of us will ever know. My heart goes out to him and any person that suffers such tragic losses.
He has “always been a friend to the underdog.” Standard boilerplate.
He supported the “1994 crime bill, 100,000 new cops, and an 8 year drop in crime.”
There were no 100,000 new cops. This was Clinton fraud. The 1994 crime bill was a disaster, and thankfully led to the republican takeover of Congress. Also, the drop in crime was 50% due to Rudy Giuliani in New York City. Clinton and the crime bill had nothing to do with this.
“Joe Biden is what others pretend to be: A statesman that does not need to hide behind bluster to make America Strong.”
Joe Biden is the epitome of bluster.
Secret task force, Cheney and Oil, blah blah blah. Apparently when Hillary Clinton has a health car task force in secret, it is allowed.
Mentioned “Scranton Pennsylvania” and “Committed Catholic” more than once.
Accidentally refers to Biden as “The next President” before correcting himself and saying “Next Vice President.”
GAFFE # 1.
Music from Bruce Springsteen blares in the background, a perfect fit since like most liberals, the Boss is a multimillionaire liberal romanticizing and pretending to be blue collar.
Joe Biden:
Cited Abraham Lincoln, the first republican.
Mentions that he is “an Irish Catholic kid from Scranton Pennsylvania.”
That “American dream under 8 years of Bush and McCain is slipping away.”
Dick Cheney is the Vice President. I now blame Joe Biden for Bill Clinton ignoring genocide in Rwanda. That was easy.
Tax cuts for wealthy, housing market collapse, blah blah blah, it’s all Bush’s fault.
Supply side tax cuts work, and so do free markets. Does President Bush get credit for the initial housing boom? Of course not.
“McCain has 7 kitchen tables.” So what? Joe Biden has an ego to match the size of each one of them.
“Our foreign policy has shredded our alliances.”
This seems to be news to Nicolas Sarkozy, Silvio Berlusconi, Angela Merkel, Stephen Harper, and the rest of the world.
“We don’t have to have 4 more years of President Bush and John McCain.”
We cannot have 4 more years of the Dub. Joe Biden is no Constitutional scholar. He keeps confusing Cheney and McCain. I suspect Biden is bigoted against bald guys…excuse me, I mean those that are “follically challenged.”
He keeps saying that he believes with “every fiber of my being.” He must have had a lot of fiber because he is full of (redacted).
“Our tomorrows will be better than our yesterdays.”
Yay, a meaningless platitude. He is learning Obama-speak.
4 Senators Senior to me, but 44 older than me. That was funny.
“McCain supports Bush.”
This strategy may be wise, but it shows that they cannot attack McCain directly.
“Scheme to privatize social security.”
The democrats have a plan. It is called the “Ostrich Plan.” They will let it go broke. They should replace the donkey with the ostrich.
“3 million jobs shipped overseas.”
Lower corporate taxes and the jobs will flood back here. People do business in climates that not hostile towards business.
Calls him “Barack America.”
GAFFE 2!
“Clear eyed pragmatist who will get the job done.”
This is partially true. He certainly is a clear eyed pragmatist, as is evidenced by the many shoved under the Obama bus.
“My wife Jill is drop dead gorgeous.” Ok, nice enough.
Scranton Pennsylvania is mentioned a fourth time.
“This may be our last chance to claim the America we love, to restore America’s soul.”
GAFFE 3!
Yes, the “All Gasbag” ticket is now full of themselves and in full swing.
Somebody get me my “Eau D’Obama Anus” perfume.
He then mentions Lincoln again.
America’s soul is fine. I need to cleanse my soul from this garbage. I am off to temple.
Sorry Joe and Barry, but you are not the ones I have been waiting for.
eric
I don’t know about America’s soul, but I’ll say this for certain – if Obama was the exact same man, but white with a common name, McCain wouldn’t stand a snowballs chance in #@!!.
JMJ
Jersey: There was such a man, his name was Jimmy Carter.
Oh please – enough with the race crap – you guys are the ones obsessed over race. Reminds me of when they went off about Bill Clinton the big racist playing that card during the primary. Get ready folks if this clown wins everytime he’s criticized it will be because of race. Newsflash – there is no way in hell a white guy with the same background, type of associations, and experience would ever have been nominated. Actually I will correct myself as Hilary won more votes and won more electorally relevant states so he would not have been serviced under the desk by Dean and the DNC if he was a white guy with an average name. So I guess McJones is right because if Barry Soetero/obama was white then Hillary would be the nominee, in which case McCain wouldn’t stand a chance in hell.
As it now stands it gets more apparent every day that McCain will be president on January 20th and it will have nothing to do with race despite what you liberal whack jobs spout off about. America is not going to elect a guy this vapid with this little experience with the type of associations he has had throughout his life – get over it.
Eric
You don’t know the half of it.
http://imustimes.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/imus-senator-biden-on-the-phone/
I syand by what I said. If Obama’s father was white, let’s say an Afrikaner, and his name was say Edward Smith, and he travelled the world, was president of the Harvard Law Review, worked his way up through the community organizers in Chicago, became a Daley Machine Illinois state representative, gave a great speech at the ’04 DNC, ran successfully for US senate, managed to beat Hillary (who was always beatable, you guys just have this comic-book view of her as some kind of supervillian who was running the Dems) in the primaries, and then ran for president with the exact same message and tone he’s running on today, he’d beat McCain by a LANDSLIDE. Period. I’m as sure of it as the big ol’ Roman nose on my face.
JMJ
” don’t know about America’s soul, but I’ll say this for certain – if Obama was the exact same man, but white with a common name, McCain wouldn’t stand a snowballs chance in #@!!.
Yea, thats why you were almost ready to vote for him.
Thats a far cry from a snowball in hell.
Really, enough overstating drama.
I dont care if he was a martian, he aint got what it takes.
And guess what, you are a PERFECT example of how you guys inject race, that statement was the MOST classic example.
I know you wont admit it, but its a true as the sun comes up every day. Any honest intelligent person would agree with me.
“Ooooh, waaaah, he lost cuz he’s black.”
No, its because hes a rookie.
Micky, the only reasons I liked McCain are 1) I believe he’s reasonably honest and patriotic and 2) I don’t believe he really has moved to the Bush-camp Right (I think he’s lying to you guys), and 3) I am a strong believer in split government. However, I am absolutely convinced that if Obama was exactly the same person, but white – male or female – he would beat the living heck out of McCain, and part of the reason for that is that McCain has rhetorically moved to the Bush-camp and he would never have done that if Obama wasn’t black.
When I balanced everything out, I went with Obama soley because I believe the damage that has been done by the last one-party state is so severe that it can only be undone by a reverse one-party state. I’m not really a huge Obama fan – he’s not liberal enough for me.
All the same, I still stand by what I said. I firmly and completely believe to be true that if Obama was the same man, but white, he would easily defeat McCain. The proof is in how he was able to beat Hillary, who was previously a shoe-in for the nomination. When you look at the numbers, the only way Obama could beat Hillary was with his message. His African/European race was a detriment to him even in the Democratic primaries. Imagaine the nationals! It was his positions and message that defeated Hillary. His race helped a little in some states, but in most, only his message could put him over the top – especially that first one in Iowa.
I think you guys are in denial.
JMJ
“McCain has rhetorically moved to the Bush-camp and he would never have done that if Obama wasn’t black.”
I dont know where you’ve been but rhetorcally only seems like coincedence since he has alwaysbeen aproponent of all the same values as Bush. Strong national security, lower taxes etc…
So it seems kind of disengenuous that you say that when also at the same time he has actaully distanced himself lately from Bush more than ever.
I Obama was a white man named Joe Smith he would be Joe Smith with not even half the credentials as McCain.
Thats a fact.
You speak against a one party state and yet if Obama is elected, thats exactley what you’ll have.
Another one party state will not counter anything but make its own damage.
If you truly believe that an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind then we should not counter with equal but opposite response.
Hillary is simply dislikeable and you guys had way better picks but your idealism led you to seek a black man and a woman instead of actual qualifications.
No one is in denial as much as the Obamanites are hypnotized by platitudes and “hopechangery”.
The guy is a rookie who refuses to sit down and debate McCain, which he will eventually have to do.
The popular concensus is that even when separated in the Warren interviews he failed miserably.
Which can only lead me to believe that its you who are denying the fact that McCain is the more qualified to actually lead and no matter what color Obama is, he is simply lacking.
Its statements like yours that lead to unrest in minority communities when you place blame on race instead of actual qualifications.
Your feeble excuse will only start trouble.
Will you run through the streets if Obama looses screaming “its cuz he’s black!”
Gee thanks, that just what the country needs is a handfull of a**holes like that running around bringing those sentiments to surface again just cuz you cant face the facts.
I dont care if you stand by your statement til you croak.
It was racist.
You cant have it both ways jersey.
For the first time in history a black man has gotten this far in a presidential election.
Now if he looses its because he was black ?
You’re full of it.
“(McCain) has alwaysbeen aproponent of all the same values as Bush. Strong national security, lower taxes etc…”
He was originally against the Bush tax cuts as being heavily tilted toward the wealthy.
He has taken the position that there should be exceptions allowable for abortion in all states, he has otherwise said abortion and gay marraige should be left to the states.
He was not always in favor of sending more troops to Iraq.
He wants to close GITMO.
He was once anti-ethanol.
He once took the position that raising payroll taxes should be a possible option for dealing with the entitlement debt problem.
He orginally did not back ending Affirmative Action in Arizona.
He’s gone back and forth on his position regarding “time-tables” in Iraq.
He once took the position of “equal pay for equal work.”
He has said that terriorist acts help GOP candidates.
He has previously expressed interest in the “windfall prfoits tax” for Big Oil.
He has opposed “offshore drilling.”
He once supported the Inheritance Tax.
He once opposed “warrantless wiretapping.”
He once strongly supported “comprehensive immigration reform.”
He has spoken out stringly against interrogation opractices at GITMO and Abu Ghraib.
It goes on and on… all very anti-Bush-GOP positions.

“So it seems kind of disengenuous that you say that when also at the same time he has actaully distanced himself lately from Bush more than ever.”
That’s about the worst excuse for a truth I have ever read. He has moved much closer to Bush during this campaign. Christ man! Where’ve you been! He HATED Bush just 8 years ago!
“It was racist.”
LOL!!! Yeah, yeah. The ol’ bait ‘n switch – the great stand-by of every conservative when they know they’re wrong.
“Now if he looses its because he was black?”
Given the complete and utter failure and the level of disfavor of the Bush administration and recent GOP one-party state, and given Obama’s positions, abilities, and credentials – YES, RACE IS THE ONLY REASON HE CAN LOSE.
JMJ
JMJ;
“LOL!!! Yeah, yeah. The ol’ bait ‘n switch – the great stand-by of every conservative when they know they’re wrong.

First of all, I hate “LOL”
Its incredibly narccissitic and only looks like you are laughing at your own joke.
Not bait and switch, its called answer the damn question.
Race is the only reason he can loose?
Then please explain why it did not stop him from getting this far ?
And really, grow up, your opinion that Bushs term was a complete and utter failure is old, worn out most definitley not true by any stretch of the most rabid imagination.
When you say that kind of stuff you fall right in with the 911 trufers, Sheehan , Rosie, etc…
And how in the hell does a one party state have anything to do with Obamas race being the reason he will lose ?
“That’s about the worst excuse for a truth I have ever read. He has moved much closer to Bush during this campaign. Christ man! Where’ve you been! He HATED Bush just 8 years ago!”
No whats disengenuous is that skip conveniently over the plain fact that I was talking about “since the campaign began” not his entire career.
Where have you been ? In the last 24 hours ? Or 6 months ?
Stay on que and on topic and true to the core and the flow of conversation or you will no longer be worthy of honest debate. You have done this infantile crap before where you misconstrue and take things out of context or blatently lie while your position crumbles.
It was racist.
Because you are using Obamas color as an excuse if he looses when what you should be doing is being honest and comparing merit.
You cant honestly compare Obamas merits to McCains because he simply has not had the time a experience to accumulate them.
Fact !
I would much rather listen to an old man who has changed his positions over time to meet with the times and knows his way around the block, than some self centered empty suit with no experience who thinks he knows whats best for me, wants to steal my money ond redistribute it on a global scale.
If you do a multiplication table on gaffes and changes per month by each candidate by the time Obama has accumilated as much seniority as McCain, say in 25 years he will of gaffed and been caught in BS about 1200 times.
To change you feelings about issues in time is normal. but the key word is “TIME”
McCains chsanges have taken place after years according to the needs of the time.
Obamas take place within weeks, sometime days of each other which makes him out to be nothing more than a pandering liar.
Still, you must explain how he can get to where hes at, saying he even beat a white woman, and then flip flop and say the only reason he will lose is cuz he’s black.
You are playing a race card up your sleeve in case he looses.
Was it only race that got him this far ?
His merits got him this far , but he does not have enough to finish the race. that is why he will lose. He’s just a little punk who can run a good line of crap but really knows nothing.
Its racist.
Like or not, I am not stupid !
I know what I here when I hear it, and please stop insulting my intelligence.
Instead of consistanly playing games to wiggle out of the stupid things you say. You’re better off just clamming up and calling it a day.
“Race is the only reason he can loose?
Then please explain why it did not stop him from getting this far?”
Because of his positions, message, and style. That’s why he beat Hillary. Hillary represented the status quo – Obama, something new. Hillary supported the war and never apologized for her vote – Obama was right about the war from the very beginning and to this day. Hillary was a divisive character with a divisive style (espcially as the campaign wore on) – Obama was a unifier, a populist. Obama overcame his race because he was the one candidate who truly represented a real change, and a real change is what the democratic voters wanted. Now, I’m not saying that he has convinced me that somehow he’s some great transendent leader, but then I’m not a Democrat. I’m just imparting my opinion as to how and why he won the nom, factoring his race.
“And how in the hell does a one party state have anything to do with Obamas race being the reason he will lose?”
I don’t know. I never said or at least meant to say that.
As for your “racist” comments, it’s just cognitive dissonance and the ol’ bait ‘n switch, so I will not lower myself to further engage in that beyond this: I have logical, rational reasons for believing that Obama’s race is the only thing standing between him and the White House in this presidential election. Historically, after a disasterous presidency, the White House most always goes to the other party. Given the unprecendented displeasure with the failed Bush “administration,” the only reason I can see why Obama can loose is because of his race. And when you look at the numbers from the states Obama lost (and in is now currently trailing), it becomes obvious to all but the blithely blind that his race was the main determinent factor.

Actually, if you stop trying to apper so educated you woulod actully look smarter.
Cognitive dissonace has absolutly nothing to do with you being so feeble and unimaginative that you can only label something Cognitive dissonace when it disagrees with you or actually spells out what you are.
“Dissonance” in grammar is the deliberate avoidance of assonance, i.e. patterns of repeated vowel sounds and words.
Which simply means, you dont like what I said so you ignore it or try to hide the truth of the meaning with a bunch od obfuscating smoke screens.
Main Entry: cog·ni·tive
Pronunciation: \ˈkäg-nə-tiv\
Function: adjective
Date: 1586
1 : of, relating to, being, or involving conscious intellectual activity (as thinking, reasoning, or remembering)
2 : based on or capable of being reduced to empirical factual knowledge
Conscious intellectual activity is also present in trufers, Charley Sheen, Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan. But only with the input they take in that suits the preconsisting suspicions derived from confusion which usually leads to fabricated BS that is easier to remember than the truth.
Bait and switch ?
That is called “disengenuous cognitove disonance.

Nice try Barney.

“it becomes obvious to all but the “blithely” blind that his race was the main determinent factor.”
blithe (bl, blth)
adj. blith·er, blith·est
1. Carefree and lighthearted.
2. Lacking or showing a lack of due concern; casual: spoke with blithe ignorance of the true situation.
No one is “carefree and lightheartedly” blind
And just because they are blind does not mean they are lacking concern or ignorant or have “undue concerns’
Who the he** are you to say what is due and undue ?PLease tell me !!
You see, there your snotty uppity liberal butt goes again, calling people ignorant because their views differ.
I have met many gutless wonders who will fall back on Obamas race if he looses instead of just admitting he has no record whatsoever in comparison to McCain.
How weak, how pathetic, what a statement that will make about the democratic party if enough of you start saying that. You have no idea how childish and ignorant that is.
“Because of his positions, message, and style. That’s why he beat Hillary. Hillary represented the status quo – Obama, something new. Hillary supported the war and never apologized for her vote – Obama was right about the war from the very beginning and to this day. ”
Only at the beggining, he has been nothing but wrong lately.
“Because of his positions, message, and style is why he should win, if not , its because he didnt have enough positions and messages that made sense to America.
But you know you will lose so you are already coming up with ifs, ands, buts, and race as your ace’s , excuses, and reasons to cry foul, like spineless liberals always do.
its occams razor The most useful statement of the principle is
when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better.
And that simplification would be that he aint got what it takes
Hey, by the way, you’re a chef – what’s the best recipe for the best sandwich-style roast beef??? I’ve tried everything, but I just can’t quite get the perfect roast for slicing. I mean, I’m alright, but I know I could do a lot better. I do have a good slicer in my kitchen, it’s a Waring Pro. Is it that? I’ve tried all the different cuts – top, bottom, sirloin, eye, etc. Is there a cut that’s best for that? The in-laws are coming down in a couple weeks and I’d love to show off some blogger-friend advice on the table.
JMJ
Oh, and look, I don’t accuse guys like you, or guys like Eric, of racism, okay? Really. Eric is a Wall Street Republican – the only color he sees is green (no offense – I only wish I saw that color more often!). You’re basically a Libertarian Conservative and that’s fine by me. The “dissonance” here, in my humble opinion, is that it seems to me you guys are ashamed of the “Southern Strategy,” the “Positive Polarization,” the “Silent Majority” – the abosorbtion of the South into the Republican Party (the Dixiecrats, the Radically Religious, the Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition, the militias and orthodox Mormons and such, etc). That’s all. What I don’t understand is why you don’t decry your own once in a while! Why is it so hard for you guys to disagree amongst yourselves once in a while? The main reason I’m here is because I can’t for the life of me understand why any Jew would trust a conservative Christian farther than they could throw them. Really.

Tommorow I’ll post some ideas on your blog.
Eric might trip if I start posting recipes on his blog
You dont accuse me of racism because I never use it as an excuse or reason for anything unless I am pointing out the obvious.
I’ve seen a lot of ethnicity get by and not use their minority or ethnicity as an excuse for their fasilure or reason for their success.
There are of course exceptions.
But to say that a man who has gotten as far as Obama in a world where racism is still prevalent in some degree will only fail now because of race is conflicting in message.
And is racist in a sense that race will be the common gripe if he looses.
I find that disgusting and naive.
Right now polls have been slightly in his favor for months now. Even with a error margin its always been very close.
If he were actually just a little more seasoned, he could probably win. As much as I hate to admit that, I think its true. So, to say that if he loses it will be because the color of his skin is just abdurd and chicken sh*t
Micky, all you have to do is look at the numbers – look at the numbers of minorities in the ranks of the GOP, look at the numbers of minorities who vote GOP, look at the demographics of GOP constitutencies, and then look at what happened in the Democratic primaries… The whiter the state, the fewer the votes for Obama. And it’s not so much that whites in more ethnically mixed states did not vote for Obama, but that more whites in less mixed states did not. There are the odd exceptions to this rule in the West, where small constituencies of very progressive, young, mostly college-town Democratic voters turned the tide for Obama, but in the South, the whiter the state, the more likely the vote for Clinton – especially in Kentucky and West Virginia. Were it not for the massive turn-outs of Anti-Hillary and black voters in the rest of the South, Obama would certainly have lost the nomination to Clinton.
Obama is now mobilizing the largest voter-turn-out effort in our history. He has a lot of experience with this and for all I know, it just may work, changing the face of the electorate for a generation. But as things stand now, I firmly believe that Americans are still too divided by race to elect a black president, especially one who is perceived to be “liberal” and “radical,” the perfect excuses to vote against the man with a clean conscience, if not subconscience, as Obama is neither all that liberal nor radical at all.
JMJ
Look Jersey, alot of candidates have lost in certain demographics because they are white.
But including the nation as a whole I see him losing on merit, not color.
The problem I have is this.
You and whoever else have to got to stop this kind of thing whre you use a mans race as an excuse for his lack of success. Not that its not true, but you have to preach that he can overcome the ignorance of others and not that he is a victim of it.
Its not too far a stretch to say that in some corners of the country you will have civil unrest if the belief that he lost only due to race becomes the main theme of dissent.
If Obama were smart and he had to give a speech concieding a loss he would tell the people that he lost to a better man not because of race, but because he had the qualifications.
The only way the country is going to heal from this race induced sentiment is if you guys stop saying that kind of crap.
Ya know, in Hillarys case you called it misogyny.
I dont think that at all. I think its because she’s a b*tch and a Clinton.
Obviously the country must be ready for a black president otherwise Obama would not have the turnout you’re talking about. Its the people in the center that will decide this. The racist radical vote is usally on the far side of any party, not in the moderate/independant center.
