Alan Greenspan was more than just the greatest Federal Reserve Chair in my lifetime. After the 1987 stock market crash, the entire economy was dangerously close to a breakdown. Greenspan took steps to calm and stabilize the financial markets and keep the stock traders from going further off the rails.
To be blunt, Grrenspan saved the country.
His testimony before Congress was amusing because they would rant and rave while privately admitting they had no idea what he was saying.
His crowning moment of “Greenspeak” was when he accused stock traders of “irrational exuberance.”
At age 100, his final trade saw him go upstairs to heaven.
He will be missed.
